    Wigan 0-1 Man Utd

    This is dangerous.

Alejandro Garnacho is tripped by Jordan Jones according to Anthony Taylor.

Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes are stood over the free-kick, which is about 25 yards from goal.

Manchester United have been electric at times across that front three. I really like the look of Hojlund, Rashford and Garnacho.

  3. CLOSE!published at 20:46 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January

    Wigan 0-1 Man Utd

    Got to score!

United come again and a cross from the right is met by Rasmus Hojlund, who does the hard bit by getting in front of his marker.

He gets a brilliant connection on the header but it's too high. It may clip the top of the bar on the way out for a goal kick.

Got to keep that down and score.

    Wigan 0-1 Man Utd

A first sight of Wigan in an attacking sense for quite a while.

It comes as Jonny Evans gives the ball away and Babajide Adeeko drives forward and shoots but it is comfortably blocked.

They come again though and a Stephen Humphrys effort takes a couple of deflections before Martial Godo is unable to flick home.

You can't help but think of that early chance for Wigan in the third minute.

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:43 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January

    Wigan 0-1 Man Utd

It's becoming Sam Tickle v Man Utd.

Wigan give the ball away and United break clearly and send Rasmus Hojlund through on goal.

His effort is goalbound but Tickle sticks out his left foot to keep it out.

United fans have taken up the whole of one side of the DW Stadium and they're the ones jumping up and down after Diogo Dalot's lovely curled finish into the bottom corner after Marcus Rashford's blocked effort.

And it had been coming with Scott McTominay shooting wide a few minutes before and Rashford had previously had a shot well saved.

Wigan can't afford to concede again but nearly do so a few minutes later.

Rashford began to celebrate, thinking he had scored after Sam Tickle fumbled the ball, which hit the post with Tickle just about getting there in time to stop it creeping over the line.

  8. CLOSE!published at 20:40 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January

    Wigan 0-1 Man Utd

    United come again.

A cross goes all the way through to Marcus Rashford but his effort is straight at Sam Tickle.

There's a little fumble though and the ball dribbles backwards but comes back off the post and into the grateful hands of Tickle.

Rashford wheels off in celebration but the officials say no goal.

It's a brilliant goal from Manchester United. That's Wigan's press beaten so what have they got left now?

    Lovely finish.

United work an overload down the right and Alejandro Garnacho is cleared by Liam Morrison under pressure from Rasmus Hojlund.

It falls for Marcus Rashford, who sees an effort blocked. He then lays off for Diogo Dalot, who curls into the bottom corner from the edge of the area. A lovely placed finish.

It's hard to argue that isn't deserved.

    Wigan 0-0 Man Utd

The corner is cleared and Wigan have a chance to break but end up giving the ball away.

Bruno Fernandes plays a lovely one-two with Diogo Dalot and drives towards the area. He tries to pick out Rasmud Hojlund but Scott McTominay runs onto the pass instead.

He opens his body up, trying to find the far corner, but sends it wide.

    Big chance, that.

    Wigan 0-0 Man Utd

It's all United at the moment. Wigan are struggling to get out.

Marcus Rashford has three round on him on the left but he still manages to force a cross in. It's cleared out for another corner, though.

    Wigan 0-0 Man Utd

United get a rather generous free-kick for handball from Anthony Taylor. It looked like it hit the Wigan player on the chest first.

That is cleared initially before another cross, in the direction of Rasmus Hojlund, is headed behind for a corner.

Tickle has done really well there to see the ball and turn it around the post.

I see Wigan have got Mr Tickle in goal, that's got to be a huge advantage!

  16. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:30 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January

    Wigan 0-0 Man Utd

    Great save from Sam Tickle.

A deflected pass works its way out to Marcus Rashford on the left side of the penalty area.

He drops his right shoulder to create the space for a shot but Tickle is down low to push behind for a corner.

  17. Postpublished at 20:29 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January

    Wigan 0-0 Man Utd

Diogo Dalot is tucking into midfield or going really high when United have the ball and that leaves a gap for Martial Godo to try and target.

It feels like something Wigan have prepared for - they are switching the ball out to the right winger whenever they can.

I just cannot understand how Rashford currently merits a starting place in this Man Utd team.

Wigan really do look confident in possession.

They've just got to find a way to break through the lines now.

This is close to a full-strength line-up for Man Utd — no excuses tonight.
