    Blackburn 2-2 Rotherham

Bottom-side Rotherham gain a point through their fighting spirit at Blackburn Rovers, who twice looked like they'd end their winless run.

Arnor Sigurdsson and Sammie Szmodics goals looked like they might be enough, but in Sean Morrison and Tom Eaves they had equalising heroes.

Rovers end a four-game losing run with this point but it's a dint to their play-off hopes.

Rotherham avoid defeat and it's a good performance but they need more than draws if they're to leapfrog their relegation fears.

    Middlesbrough 1-3 Coventry

Coventry, who won their way to Wembley against Middlesbrough in last season's Championship play-offs, again pick up an important win on Teesside.

Gustavo Hamer, now departed, was the hero that day, today it was Tatsuhiro Sakamoto's double and a Haji Wright effort that earned the spoils.

Boro led at one stage through Josh Coburn and had countless chances. They were made to pay.

Blow to the Teessiders' play-off hopes, and Coventry get some play-off boost of their own.

Chris Martin has a landmark 150th EFL goal, but surely a mere consolation for Bristol Rovers who are 3-1 down at Wycombe.

And what a strike at Charlton - from 30 yards out Oisin Smyth picks out the top corner. 2-1 to Oxford United.

Stevenage, losing at Fratton Park against leaders Portsmouth, are dropping out of the top six as it stands.

  10. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 16:52 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Leicester 4-1 Huddersfield

It would only have been a consolation but Josh Koroma has struck the bar for the visitors.

They will be watching what Sheffield Wednesday do in the late game against Hull rather nervously.

    (Shaun Hutchinson 90+2 mins)

Smash and grab for Millwall, it seems - courtesy of their long-serving centre-back Shaun Hutchinson!Hutchinson is up for an injury-time corner that Bristol City fail to clear and when the ball comes back to him inside the box, he turns and rifles a low volley into the bottom corner.

Millwall on the verge of a third straight win...

    Swansea 1-0 West Brom

Swansea are so close to sealing the three points!

Josh Tymon strikes one from distance and it looks destined for the top corner, but the post comes to West Brom's rescue and keeps them in the game.

Time is running out for Carlos Corberan's team, however...

  17. goal

GOAL: Blackburn 2-2 Rotherhampublished at 16:43 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Tom Eaves (82 mins)

What spirit being shown by Rotherham, who keep fighting back at Blackburn.

The equaliser comes from a superb curling in-swinger from Sebastian Revan, Tom Eaves powers ahead of his man and steers the header beyond Leo Wahlstedt.

Shushes the crowd with his celebration. Big leveller.

Can the Millers go on and earn their first away win since 2022?!

I'm not one for turning on managers or wanting them out but surely Rooney has to go? His record is truly shocking since his appointment and Birmingham could go down if they stick with him too long.

Steven Fletcher scores his hat-trickImage source, Rex Features

Another Steven Fletcher header, another hat-trick for the former Wolves and Burnley man who admittedly had yet to fire for Wrexham until today.

The second-best defence in the league, Barrow held firm and looked the better side for the first 45 minutes but opened up to concede three in injury time and now the coffin has been nailed. 4-1 to Wrexham.

Newport now lead at Sutton 1-0.

  20. goal

GOAL: Leicester 4-1 Huddersfieldpublished at 16:41 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Stephy Mavididi (77 mins)

    The three-goal cushion is restored.

Stephy Mavididi takes aim from a free-kick and with a little deflection, the ball finds its way past Lee Nicholls at the near post.

A ninth of the season for the former Arsenal trainee - what a signing he has been.
