  1. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:41 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Leeds 3-0 Birmingham

Special moment for Patrick Bamford, who is withdrawn for Leeds but to a rapturous reception at Elland Road from the adoring support.

First goal of the season, a rare start. Rewarded. Replaced by Joel Piroe.

Fellow scorers Dan James and Crysencio Summerville both depart too, for Jaidon Anthony and Willy Gnonto.

Wycombe are now 3-0 up against Bristol Rovers through former Premier League and Wales international striker Sam Vokes, then Luke Leahy.

Carlisle have levelled with Port Vale; 1-1.

And Reading have the lead in the high-scoring relegation zone battle with Exeter through Femi Azeez. The Royals are 3-2 up.

  3. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 16:39 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Middlesbrough 1-3 Coventry

Tatsuhiro Sakamoto is a chunk of woodwork away from making it 4-1 and collecting his hat-trick.

The Coventry magician's wand just didn't quite work its supernatural spell that time.

  4. goal

GOAL: Norwich 1-1 Southamptonpublished at 16:39 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Josh Sargent (78 mins)

The Canaries have been on the back foot for large periods, but they conjure up an equaliser.

Positive run forward from Jonathan Rowe and he plays it in the path of substitute Josh Sargent, who slides it past Gavin Bazunu.

It is a first goal since August for the USA striker, how glad Norwich will be to have him back after injury.

Unless there is a change of manager (and attitude) Norwich are only headed one way this season....and it isn't promotion. How can so much good work and money be wasted in such a short time??

  6. Postpublished at 16:38 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Stoke 0-0 Ipswich

Those three powerhouses relegated from the Premier League are really flexing their muscles in the Championship this season.

It's games like this where Ipswich have to nick a winner to keep pace with that trio.

  7. Postpublished at 16:37 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Swansea 1-0 West Brom

Inside the last 15 minutes and West Brom's quest for an equaliser is proving fruitless so far.

Nathaniel Chalobah had an attempt charged down, but Swansea goalscorer Liam Cullen might also have added a second at the other end. Still just one goal in it though.

  8. 39 shots at Home Parkpublished at 16:36 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Plymouth 3-3 Watford

Plymouth get back on the front foot and Morgan Whittaker's free-kick is kept out by Ben Hamer.

A 39th shot on goal of this incredible game!

  9. 'Leeds playing with confidence'published at 16:35 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Leeds 3-0 Birmingham

    Ian Clarkson
Ex-Birmingham captain on BBC Radio WM

Leeds are playing with confidence. If Birmingham try to chase them they will probably just cut through them even more.

  10. goal

GOAL QPR 1-2 Cardiffpublished at 16:35 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    (Perry Ng 74 mins)

Cardiff have looked the more likely to score the third goal in this game - and this one is almost a carbon copy of their first.

Again it's a Joe Ralls corner to the far post, again the marking is poor and this time it's Perry Ng who gets up to nod into the QPR net.

His fourth goal of the season and at the moment that looks like it may be enough to take all three points back to South Wales.

  11. Postpublished at 16:34 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

Three of the top four in the Championship are now winning. Only second-placed Ipswich are dropping points as it stands.

  12. Postpublished at 16:34 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Blackburn 2-1 Rotherham

Blackburn seek a third, substitute Niall Ennis gets his head to a cross from Dilan Markanday but Viktor Johansson makes the save.

Rotherham still just a goal behind.

  13. goal

GOAL: Norwich 0-1 Southamptonpublished at 16:31 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Adam Armstrong (70 mins)

Barely a yard out but Adam Armstrong has number 13 of the season!

Fine work from Kyle Walker-Peters down the right as he gets to the by-line and fires it low and hard across goal and Armstrong has the simple task to put Southampton ahead.

Saints' unbeaten run looks to be stretching to 18 matches.

  14. League One latestpublished at 16:31 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    #bbcefl

The first goal of Charlie Adam's Fleetwood management career goes to Shaun Rooney but they still trail 3-1 at Shrewsbury.

Exeter have scored two in a game (or three if you count Alex Hartridge through his own net) which is something of a rarity this season. Dion Rankine makes it 2-2 at Reading.

  15. RED CARD - STOKEpublished at 16:30 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Stoke 0-0 Ipswich

Stoke's Jordan Thompson is shown a second yellow and the home side are down to 10 men.

Booked in the first half by referee James Bell, he receives a second from replacement referee Thomas Bramall.

Now the Potters must play the final quarter with a man less.

  16. goal

GOAL: Leeds 3-0 Birminghampublished at 16:30 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Crysencio Summerville (67 mins)

Lovely third for Leeds and Crysencio Summerville is the man to fire it in.

Georginio Rutter turns and clips a ball over the top down the left for Junior Firpo to collect.

He drives into the box, cuts it back to Summerville who lets it rolls across him, opens up the body and strokes it into the corner past John Ruddy.

What does that mean for Wayne Rooney? The form has been miserable for Birmingham.

    Leicester 3-1 Huddersfield

Big chance for Josh Koroma to pull another one back for Huddersfield.

But he can't get enough purchase on his effort from a nice pull-back from Jack Rudoni as it bobbles wide of Mads Hermansen's far post with the help of a deflection.

  18. League Two latestpublished at 16:28 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    #bbcefl

Jordan Slew has nullified Jack Muldoon's opener for Harrogate at Morecambe; 1-1.

Walsall have put FIVE past Grimsby now; 1-5.

  19. goal

GOAL: Middlesbrough 1-3 Coventrypublished at 16:27 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    Tatsuhiro Sakamoto (69 mins)

Coventry have some breathing space and it's that man Tatsuhiro Sakamoto again.

Haji Wright played a ball down the left which tested out the hamstrings of Jake Bidwell and his stretching cross found Sakamoto perfectly at the back post to stoop and head in.

Middlesbrough have wilted in the Sky Blues flame.

  20. Postpublished at 16:26 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January

    QPR 1-1 Cardiff

Rangers are understandably energised by that Paul Smyth equaliser, but they've needed veteran goalkeeper Asmir Begovic to ensure they stay level.

Begovic produced two saves in quick succession to foil Rubin Colwill, the second of them a low skidding effort, while Smyth has gone close again at the other end.
