Derby have certainly gained in confidence since that opener from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.

An important 10 minutes ahead for Fleetwood, who can't really afford to concede again before the break against a Derby team that hasn't lost on the road since 28 October.

Before the goal, Fleetwood were a tad fortunate to escape when Josh Earl handled in the box. One of those that VAR might have intervened to award if the technology was available.

When the opportunity came it was simple.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing ran off the shoulder of the defender and almost sat the keeper down.

Now we have a lead to build on after that slow start.

I don't know if it is due to the playing surface but not many chances are coming through the middle of the pitch.

It looks like the best chances will be coming from crosses.

Fleetwood are getting a bit of joy down their right side and again Josh Vela is able to send a cross into the Derby box.

The Rams clear as far as Brendan Wiredu, who shoots waywardly (if that's a word).

At the other end, James Collins tries to flick in a right-wing cross from Kane Wilson but the keeper is equal to it.

Still goalless as we head towards the 20-minute mark.

This game is just not settled yet.

No team is getting the ball under control and everything's too fast.

They need to give it to someone like Conor Hourihane who can take control.

Derby have had more possession so far but it's bottom club Fleetwood who have had the best two chances to date.

If you want an indication of the task that new Fleetwood boss Charlie Adam has on his hands, you only have to look at their most recent run of results.

Town have not won any of their past 10 games in all competitions, losing eight of them and scoring only three goals during that run.

A Fleetwood attack breaks down and they've got more defending to do, but Nathaniel Mendez-Laing's shot from the edge of the box is cleared away.

Tactically we've got to get the ball as wide and high as we possibly can.

However, our main threat will be through the centre with James Collins.

Derby wing-back Kane Wilson looks a bit non-plussed at a decision to penalise him inside the area for a slight push on a Fleetwood defender, just as he was about to get a shot away.
