Chelsea seem to be suffering a few early Wembley nerves out there. Bit hesitant in their passing and one or two cheap fouls. Liverpool have settled more quickly and already created some opportunities.

Andy Robertson sends the latest Liverpool free-kick into the box but again Chelsea head away.

Ben Chilwell loses the ball by the corner flag and then blocks off Conor Bradley and Liverpool have another free-kick.

The Blues are really not looking comfortable trying to play out from the back.

It's a really good effort, it's a good save from Petrovic. Diaz's eyes lit up when he saw the posts and it's a good save to the goalkeeper's right.

Conor Bradley has had a really good start to this game. Similar to what Trent would do, he's got into midfield and he's seen a lot of the ball already.

This game is starting to come alive now and Liverpool have a really good chance to take the lead as Luis Diaz's drive inside the box is pushed away by Djordje Petrovic.

That came from Chelsea once again fluffing their attempt to play out from the back.

Chelsea have another chance with a set-piece as Luis Diaz concedes a foul on the left side of the box.

Ben Chilwell sends the ball into the box, it is headed out to Malo Gusto, but his first-time strike is straight at Caoimhin Kelleher.

Liverpool have been much more aggressive without the ball and it has meant much of the game so far has been played in Chelsea's half. They are getting onto every ball that is dropping at the moment.

Liverpool have started this game better than Chelsea but the Blues do win the game's first corner.

Ben Chilwell sends the ball into the box, it is a deep delivery that Caoimhin Kelleher punches clear.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is here watching on this expensively assembled Blues side. He'll no doubt be hoping they can take advantage of Liverpool's injury issues to secure the trophy.

It was a good ball in from Robertson, Diaz read it really well, but it had a bit too much height on it. It was always going to be tough to get any power on it. It gave Petrovic plenty of time to get to it.

Here come Liverpool again as Andy Robertson plays a great ball into the box. Luis Diaz leaps but it is just a bit too high for him and can only loop the ball into Djordje Petrovic's gloves.

Alexis Mac Allister is again tasked with sending the ball into the box from the free-kick.

He finds Ibrahima Konate unmarked on the far side of the area but the whistle goes as he handles while trying to control the ball.

A nervous start by both sides but Liverpool are starting to settle into it the better.

I think Colwill will get away with one if he doesn't get a yellow card. It's really smart from Mac Allister, Colwill goes right through the back of him. If it's not in the first five minutes of the game, it's a yellow card.

Liverpool have some good height up for the free-kick but Alexis Mac Allister's ball into the box is headed away.

Only briefly, however, as Moises Caicedo fouls Wataru Endo and Liverpool have another free-kick in a decent position.

Levi Colwill is far too casual trying to stride out from the back with the ball and then fouls Alexis Mac Allister to give away a needless free-kick.

Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold are among a high quality group of players sat watching on today.

No doubt Liverpool would have a much stronger chance of winning if they were able to be involved, but that's still a decent XI they've put out.

Not much has happened in these first few minutes as both teams look to settle into their groove.

Fantastic atmosphere, first cup final of the season, which is important for both teams, both sets are making a lot of noise.
