It's easy to say how important it is start games well, but when Chelsea saw that team sheet come in, they would have had an extra spring in their step ahead of a moment like this, a big cup final.

All those Liverpool injuries will be the only reason why Chelsea will win it today. Such a shame. It should be a close game, but it would have been an easy win for Klopp. As a neutral, hoping to see them do the quadruple this summer (although highly unlikely). I don’t see them winning today, but I hope I’m wrong! Chelsea are more desperate to win something this season with all that money spent.

    Tom

People writing Liverpool off have clearly forgotten a certain night at Anfield and a 4-0 win - missed some big names that night. Different players but anything is possible.

    Matt

I fancy Liverpool as favourites. This is still a potent first team and the youngsters on the bench definitely have the quality and hunger to change the game. Good on Liverpool to promote young players. Going for 1-1 and Gomez to get a winner in extra-time with his first ever Liverpool goal... What a story that would be, eh?

  5. 'I can see it going to penalties again'published at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Chelsea v Liverpool (15:00 GMT)

    Alan Shearer
Former England and Newcastle striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I don't see there being a lot of goals in this game, I wouldn't be surprised if this one goes to penalties again.

  6. 'A Chelsea lead would suit them'published at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Chelsea v Liverpool (15:00 GMT)

    Paul Heckingbottom
Former Sheffield United manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

If Chelsea do get the lead, the game becomes easier for them because it's a cup final and Liverpool won't be able to sit back and Jackson will get more space.

  7. 'It's about winning'published at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Chelsea v Liverpool (15:00 GMT)

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino speaking to Sky Sports: "It's nice to arrive here but now it's about winning, it's not to think in any other way. We are better after three weeks. Positive things.

"I think we arrive with very good momentum and now we have to translate that to the game on the pitch."

  8. 'It is easier for Mac Allister than Enzo'published at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Chelsea v Liverpool (15:00 GMT)

    Paul Heckingbottom
Former Sheffield United manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

I don't think Fernandez has found his feet yet. The difference is Mac Allister came into a well-drilled system. For Chelsea and Enzo it's different, it's new and Enzo has to make that position his own.

  9. 'Klopp's exit announcement has worked wonders'published at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Chelsea v Liverpool (15:00 GMT)

    Paul Heckingbottom
Former Sheffield United manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think the big intention from Jurgen Klopp announcing he was leaving was to motivate his players, since then it has worked really well for Liverpool.

  10. 'Bradley is just unbelievable'published at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Karen Carney
Former England midfielder on Sky Sports

For someone so young, he [Conor Bradley] is just unbelievable. He has come in for Trent Alexander-Arnold and it's been seamless.

A man playing in a senior position and wow he is really doing very well.

  11. 'Psychology is massive in football'published at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Chelsea v Liverpool (15:00 GMT)

    Alan Shearer
Former England and Newcastle striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Psychology in football is massive, as a manager it is like being a parent to 25 or 30, but then having the responsibility on behalf of millions. You are always looking for every little advantage you can get.

  12. 'Never take it for granted'published at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Chelsea v Liverpool (15:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports: "It is always the same. You can never take it for granted and I would never do that. We are here and we should give it a try.

"Chelsea had good results before we faced them and after we faced them. We caused them problems and that is the plan for today."

  13. 'Pochettino really trusts Gallagher'published at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Chelsea v Liverpool (15:00 GMT)

    Jamie Redknapp
Former Tottenham midfielder on Sky Sports

I think when you have a year and a half left on your contract, you have to work hard every day.

He [Conor Gallagher] has been their most consistent player along with Cole Palmer. He sets the tempo, he's really improved.

When he saw Enzo [Fernandez] and Moises [Caicedo] coming in, he must have been wondering where he was going to play. The manager really trusts him.

  14. 'Kelleher is not a great goalkeeper yet'published at 14:49 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Chelsea v Liverpool (15:00 GMT)

    Alan Shearer
Former England and Newcastle striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Kelleher is not a great a goalkeeper yet, that is Alisson who is missing. Alisson is one of, if not the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.

  15. 'The Chelsea players are together'published at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Chelsea v Liverpool (15:00 GMT)

Chelsea manager Maurico Pochettino has said that communication between his players improved significantly which has led to an improved run of form since their 4-1 defeat at Anfield last month.

"For me, it is not about the change. As a team, you compete in different ways and you know different things happen," Pochettino said.

"You realise when you have a spare moment you have the possibility to be different. Maybe it was good for us to feel the pain of a negative situation, find a way to compete better, live in a different way.

"Before they start the game, they are all together, they talk and communicate better, but that needs to be natural."

  16. 'Palmer is Chelsea's most important player right now'published at 14:46 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Chelsea v Liverpool (15:00 GMT)

    Alan Shearer
Former England and Newcastle striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Palmer has shown good character, a touch of arrogance that you need. You've got to respect Palmer for wanting to get out of Manchester City and play, it doesn't faze him. He's probably Chelsea's more important player right now.

  17. Postpublished at 14:44 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

You'll Never Walk Alone has just been belted out by the Liverpool fans while Chelsea supporters are waving Chelsea flags. The atmosphere is really building as kick off approaches.

  18. 'Nothing is going to faze him'published at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Chelsea v Liverpool (15:00 GMT)

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea and Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

I would say different things to different young kids [involved today] because if it was Conor Bradley I'd say 'just get out there you're great, you're brilliant'.

I'd say the same to Cole Palmer, I don't think, looking at the way he moves, looking at the way he is on the ball, nothing is going to faze him but there will be others that will be slightly spooked by it.

  19. Chelsea 'rollercoaster team'published at 14:41 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Chelsea v Liverpool (15:00 GMT)

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

They are such a rollercoaster team to watch. One minute you think they’re developing, the next they'll have a dreadful result.

I think everyone would say the last three games Chelsea have just started to put something together.

  20. 'Players are the ones who need to adapt'published at 14:39 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

Mauricio Pochettino has only won one of the 13 games he has managed against Jurgen Klopp, which includes his time at Tottenham and Chelsea.

Of those 13 games, Pochettino has tried eight different systems to get a result against the Liverpool boss.

Will this be playing on the Chelsea manager's mind as he prepares for today's Carabao Cup final?

Former Blues midfielder Cesc Fabregas believes managers and the media analyse head-to-head stats "a little bit too much" and it is ultimately down to the players on the pitch to "adapt".

"In football you always need to have a plan B," said Fabregas on the BBC's Planet Premier League podcast. "But the good thing about Klopp is that he doesn't have a lot of plan Bs.

"He always play the same way and he always wins and this tells me how good of a coach he is.

"Pochettino changes a lot of systems. That shows me that he's still not quite there on what he wants to do, or that he's a manager that sometimes could potentially have doubts in his head that makes him change.

"Klopp is completely the opposite. He has his way, he knows exactly what he wants, he knows how to work on it and he's got the results.

"As a coach you do analyse a little bit too much and journalists in general as well. Yes, you prepare the game in a certain way, but the players are the ones that need to adapt on the pitch."
