  1. Post update

Liverpool versus Chelsea in a League Cup final - a repeat of two years ago.

Who will come out on top this time? We will find out on 25 February.

For now, though, it is time for us to wrap up so here's Emlyn Begley's report from tonight's game.

    Goodbye!

  2. 'Too nervous and too emotional' - Silva

FT: Fulham 1-1 Liverpool (agg 2-3)

    Fulham

Fulham manager Marco Silva, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live after the game: "I am proud of our journey in this competition and this season.

"From when we played the first time [in the EFL Cup] against Tottenham [beat 5-3 on penalties in the Second Round] we showed our ambition and our desire to go on in this competition.

"Our attitude was serious and our ambition we have to be proud of it.

"We kept the semi-finals open against the team which is at the top of the Premier League and they have been so consistent in games.

"We have to be proud of it and unfortunately we did not win the game, but we needed it to go to extra-time.

"As a club and myself as a manager I am proud of the fans, there was great atmosphere here."

On Fulham's downfall: "We tried to start strong to give an impact straight away, but we were too nervous and too emotional.

"Our first actions when we had the possession was to lose many balls.

"First time they went [attacking] they scored and in the moment we have to be realistic we have to be better.

"It created more difficult scenarios for us and performance wise it was not our best performance.

"We are capable to do better, but even so in terms of commitment and desire it was there. Moments like this are a step forward."

  3. 'We tried until the end'

FT: Fulham 1-1 Liverpool (agg 2-3)

    Fulham

Fulham manager Marco Silva, speaking to Sky Sports: "We have to be proud of the way we played in the games in this ompetition. We know the quality ofn the opposition we faced.

"Overall it wasn't our best performance at home, probably the emotion of the game and after conceding so early hard to settle. Overall I believe Liverpool played better than us but our commitment and attitude was always there.

"We tried until the end. After our goal it became a proper cup tie and emotional; as well. We hit the woodwork but unfortunately didn't score again and Liverpool go through to the final.

"We were not clinical, even the game away from home. In these types of games and these types of sides you have to be ruthless.

"We are always improving. Last season our Carabao Cup journey was not good at all. We have to grow and get used to these types of moments."

  4. 'We are really looking forward to Wembley'

FT: Fulham 1-1 Liverpool (agg 2-3)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live after the game: "Outstanding and I am so happy this was a proper cup game and a cup tie over both legs.

"Nobody thought we would go through easily and that wasn't the case. Fulham did everything and they threw everything on the pitch.

"We started well with not only the goal, but the whole performance we was really flexible.

"After half an hour our foot slipped off the gas and it was more open, we should have scored a second one and in the second half we should have scored a third one.

"Then they scored, it is sensational from Harry [Wilson] we had to bring it over the line and we are really looking forward to Wembley.

"It is a tough period, but we have had the time off and now they come thick and fast."

On reaching Wembley: "You should have seen the dressing room, they are over the moon the young kids.

"The stadium will be full blue and red, it is a good one.

"Coming here tonight and then going through is special - you can never take these things for granted."

  5. League Cup specialists

FT: Fulham 1-1 Liverpool (agg 2-3)

Liverpool have qualified for their 14th League Cup final, four more than any other side.

It's the third time they've done so under Jurgen Klopp, with only Bob Paisley doing so more often as Reds boss (four).

  7. 'Not a night to shine, a night to reach a final'

FT: Fulham 1-1 Liverpool (agg 2-3)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports: "It is fantastic. We had the experience before, we know what to expect. Again Chelsea wow what a story that is,.

"You should never take for granted if you are part of the team who can qualify for trophies.

"This was the full cup experience. Open game, second half they started a bit wilder. We don't score. They got the equaliser. But the boys did really well and I am really happy.

"The only thing that counts in the end is that we are through,. The very young ones have been incredible, so happy to see their reaction in the dressing room.

"They are all exceptional and they all worked extremely hard. This was not the night to shine, this was the night to qualify for a final. You heard from Marco Silva how much reaching a final would mean for Fulham, we had to prove and we did.

"Everything great about the Carabao Cup final. Around that we have to be focused on all the other competitions as well and that is what we will do.

"It is so perfect. Wembley is a special place and I am really happy for everyone involved they can have that experience."

  8. 'Liverpool have shown they have strength in depth'

FT: Fulham 1-1 Liverpool (agg 2-3)

    Chris Sutton

Former Blackburn striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

There is a confidence about Liverpool, Virgil van Dijk looks back to his best and Jarell Quansah looks like he has been about for years.

You have talked about all the injuries, but blimey Manchester City will look at this team and be worried about them now.

Jurgen Klopp has not just thrown Conor Bradley in because he is a young player, he is an excellent young player.

Klopp is able to trust Quansah above Ibrahima Konate and the fact he is able to rotate tells you he trusts them.

That competition for places and strength in depth is really crucial to any team but Liverpool this season have shown they have their strength in depth.

  9. Post update

  11. 'Special'

FT: Fulham 1-1 Liverpool (agg 2-3)

    Liverpool

Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah, speaking to Sky Sports: "It is special, unbelievable. Can't ask for much more really. We had to dig in tonight. It is my first season here and happy to get to a final.

"It is all about rhythm, you have to keep playing. I felt a little rusty as I've not played recently.

"Doing this with Conor [Bradley] is special for me because we have played together for 10 years."

  12. 'Liverpool deserve to go through'

FT: Fulham 1-1 Liverpool (agg 2-3)

    Chris Sutton

Former Blackburn striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

    Liverpool players applaud the fans

It is the first possible trophy you can win every season and Liverpool were trophy-less last season so it is a big opportunity for Jurgen Klopp.

The Klopp substitutes were amazing, the reaction when Fulham did score I started to think this was going to be Fulham pushing Liverpool, but bringing Ibrahim Konate on made them have control of the game.

In the end Liverpool over the two legs deserve to go through.

  13. 'We had to be ready to fight'

FT: Fulham 1-1 Liverpool (agg 2-3)

    Liverpool

Liverpool defender, Virgil van Dijk, speaking to Sky Sports: "We wanted to make sure we did the right things, Fulham played at home with a good atmosphere. We had to be ready to fight, we started the game very well and scored a good goal. We found a way and go to Wembley."

On how Liverpool's young defenders did: "I am proud of these guys. It is only the beginning for them. To go into a final with this performance is very good."

  14. 'Liverpool did look comfortable'

FT: Fulham 1-1 Liverpool (agg 2-3)

    Chris Sutton

Former Blackburn striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Just a shame from Fulham's perspective the mistake from Bernd Leno to let in the soft goal.

Liverpool did look comfortable and Fulham were a little bit flat, but when they got the goal the stadium did erupt.
