Howe must be held accountable for his oversight! It was evident to all that Burn was a vulnerable point, yet he persisted, resulting in our loss (a draw feels like a loss). I'm eager to know the rationale behind his decision.

    Tom, Bangkok

What a game, both teams gave everything. I'll take the point!

It really could have gone either way. Quite a magnificent game. Rob Edwards has done an amazing job [as Luton boss].

  3. 'We were naive'published at 17:17 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

    FT: Burnley 2-2 Fulham

    Fulham

Fulham manager Marco Silva speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It's a really difficult one to take. Not the first time this has happened. Overall our perfomance in 2-1 was at a very good level, everyone felt another goal was coming for us.

"The first goal we conceded gave them a boost, the crowd as well. As a team we were naive in that moment, and were punished.

"We were fresh enough on the pitch, it is just we don't keep focus and are naive in some moments. These are details that will punish us hard this season."

On Rodrigo Muniz, who scored his first Premier League goal: "A very good performance from him. A very good first half, good moments in the second half too. He's a young boy who works very hard."

Both of Sheffield United's Premier League victories in 11 attempts against Aston Villa came under Chris Wilder in the two most recent meetings at Bramall Lane: 2-0 in December 2019 and 1-0 in March 2021.

Villa's last top-flight away victory in this fixture came in April 1994.

Psychologically when you drop out of the top four, questions are asked. How quickly can you get back in there? It is a big game for them.

I would say they have probably overachieved. Spurs have as well. Both teams are in a position when they have overachieved but it is a big game for Villa.

Which Newcastle fan wouldn't have taken 4 points for the last two games? Luton turned over Brighton in the week and Newcastle ended Villa's home record. A 4-4 draw against an in form Luton is a good result.

Former Wolves & Norwich winger on the Football Daily podcast

Wilder has made a huge impact since he has come back. I think they have improved as a team. They are in games more. They haven't been comfortably beaten.

Home form is where they are going to try and pick up points. If you look at this on paper, they are better on home, Villa are not good away and they haven't been in form. This is a huge chance to try and get points at this fixture.

The other night against Newcastle you saw Leon Bailey coming on and you just think he is a player who can change the game.

They have changed their shape a little bit. They have two banks and two left up top. They have a good squad but I think it is the pressure. They need to improve on their away form.

At home they have been great but if you are not playing well, you have got to pick up points. Watkins is still having a great season. They have a great opportunity to go and get into that top four this season.

Jon Evans: I'm not sure this is necessarily a bad season for Newcastle nor a failing for Howe. They probably overachieved last season and are fighting for Europe this season with a limited squad. Victims of their own success with some people it seems.

Ollie Watkins has now scored at least 10 goals in each of his first four seasons in the top flight.

The last English players to achieve that feat were Robbie Fowler (1993-94 to 1996-97) and Alan Shearer (first five from 1992-93 to 1996-97).

Crystal Palace's Jean-Philippe Mateta, speaking to PLP: "To lose 4-1 in the derby is always hard but you have to keep going.

"They scored early and when you score early in the Premier League it is hard."

On Michael Olise's injury: "I didn't see what happened. I turned around and he was in the dressing room. He is one of the best players at Palace."

We're getting to a stage where if Sheffield United are to have any hope of staying up they have to start an amazing winning run.

Will that start today? In their way are Champions League dreamers Aston Villa.

Some boos from sections of the home support at half-time, but united jubilation when the final whistle sounded.

Vincent Kompany’s side finally manage to pick up a point from a losing position.

For 90 minutes Fulham appeared set for a first win here since 1951. Marco Silva will be livid they didn’t see this one out.

Newcastle fans getting frustrated with Howe but this dates back to last summer when Newcastle simply did not recruit enough. When you're in Europe you get found out and Newcastle have.
