  1. goal

GOAL - Brentford 0-2 Liverpoolpublished at 55 mins

    Alexis Mac Allister

Lovely, lovely goal from Alexis Mac Allister!

Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch combine again to get the ball to Mohamed Salah and he threads a superb ball into the path of Mac Allister.

The Argentina international cleverly touches the ball past the defender and then pokes the ball home. Super feet and another very good Liverpool goal.

    Brentford 0-1 Liverpool

Liverpool look a real threat on the break and come flying forward again.

Mohamed Salah has Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo either side of him, opts to pick out the latter but his first touch isn't the best and Brentford get defenders back to clear.

  3. CLOSE!published at 51 mins

    Brentford 0-1 Liverpool

Big chance for Mohamed Salah after a booming header from Virgil van Dijk puts him through on goal.

The Liverpool forward just can't work the angle he wants after couple of heavy touches, though, and stabs the shot wide.

Definitely a bit of rustiness in that finish from the Egyptian.

    Brentford 0-1 Liverpool

Great footwork from Luis Diaz on the edge of the Brentford box but the subsequent shot flies over the bar.

  5. 'Nunez involved in 16 Premier League goals'published at 13:43 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    Brentford 0-1 Liverpool

    Statman Dave
Football analyst on BBC Radio 5 Live

Looking at the stats for Darwin Nunez this season and that is his ninth goal of the Premier League season, he has been directly involved in 16 goals.

In terms of strikers only Erling Haaland and Ollie Watkins have been involved in more goals.

  6. Postpublished at 49 mins

    Brentford 0-1 Liverpool

Nice play between Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch puts Luis Diaz away down the left.

He slips the ball through for Cody Gakpo but the Dutch forward loses his feet and the chance is gone.

  7. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Brentford 0-1 Liverpool

Ivan Toney is up and will be fine to carry on it seems.

  8. KICK-OFFpublished at 13:39 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    Brentford 0-1 Liverpool

We're back under way for the start of the second half and Ivan Toney is down almost straightaway after getting caught by Conor Bradley.

There was no intent but it looks a painful one.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 13:38 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    HT: Brentford 0-1 Liverpool

Cody Gakpo is coming on for Liverpool at the start of the second half, replacing Darwin Nunez.

Reds fans will hope that isn't another injury.

It could just be because Jurgen Klopp has only one more window to make substitutions in the second half following the injuries to Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota.

  10. 'There was so much to admire about Liverpool's opener'published at 13:35 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    HT: Brentford 0-1 Liverpool

    Peter Crouch
Ex-England and Liverpool striker on TNT Sports

There was so much to admire. It was a big whack up field but what Liverpool have is pace. The presence of mind by Jota to bring Nunez in [was superb] and the finish from Nunez was outstanding. What a finish.

  11. 'Liverpool can hurt you from anywhere'published at 13:35 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    HT: Brentford 0-1 Liverpool

    Joe Cole
Ex-Liverpool and England midfielder on TNT Sports

From Brentford's perspective, they gamble a lot on attacking set plays. It was a risk leaving Reguilon against Jota.

They were stoic and strong and there wasn't much space for Liverpool. Toney and Maupay caused them some problems and the gameplan was working but when you are playing a team like Liverpool it can come from anywhere.

I’m more concerned about Jota getting injured than I was with Salah going to AFCON. We have replaced his goals quite well. Jota plays in sneaky little pockets, pops up everywhere, links play so well & is fantastic with his head. Not to mention an ice fool finisher. Hopefully it’s just a dead leg.

  13. 'Bailey looks like he is loving his football'published at 13:33 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

Fulham v Aston Villa (15:00 GMT)

    Dion Dublin
Former England striker on Football Focus

Bailey is very calm in what he wants to achieve and knows it has taken a long time but he looks like he is enjoying himself. He looks like he loves his football and he likes the manager as well.

As much as you try and double up on him, he has this drop of the shoulder and you have seen two or three when he drops that shoulder and then puts it into the top corner. He is consistent and the manager trusts him. When you deliver what the manager wants you to do, you will just play.

  15. Injuries are a 'big worry' for Klopppublished at 13:29 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    HT: Brentford 0-1 Liverpool

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Australia keeper on Sky Sports

Injuries are the biggest worry for Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp will be happy with the scoreline, but there is questions he neds to address as Brentford did have a couple of good chances.

Liverpool had 64% possession in that first half but Brentford had more efforts on goal.

The Bees had eight shots to Liverpool's five but the visitors edged it four to three in shots on target, including the crucial one from Darwin Nunez.

It is still all to play for, though, in the second half.

  17. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:25 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    Brentford 0-1 Liverpool

Plenty of patient passing to end a half that sees Liverpool go in a goal up - but having sustained another two injuries.

Curtis Jones limped off before Diogo Jota was stretchered off for the visitors with Darwin Nunez scoring from a wonderful chip in between.

Brentford have had their chances but could not make them count. They have 45 minutes to try and turn this game around.

  19. Postpublished at 45+4 mins

    Brentford 0-1 Liverpool

Another Brentford free-kick sails straight into the hands of Caoimhin Kelleher.

The goalkeeper looks to emulate Alisson Becker with a quick, long ball out to Mohamed Salah but doesn't have the distance.

Richard: Frustrating that we've lost two players to injury and neither challenge was deemed a foul, let alone card-worthy. Ref has bought everything Brentford have sold him. Some consistency please?

Rico: Noorgard once again responsible for another injured player in 10 mins. Brentford's style of play need to be examined.
