  1. Wharton in focus after Palace bid rebuffedpublished at 19:12 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

Blackburn Rovers v Wrexham (19:30 GMT)

Crystal Palace have had an £18.5m bid for Blackburn midfielder Adam Wharton rejected.

The 19-year-old, who was born in Blackburn, made his debut for the Championship club in August 2022 and has made 44 appearances.

In December he extended his deal until the end of the 2027-28 season.

Palace have been watching him this season, and Newcastle, Everton and Tottenham are also known to have been interested in the youngster.

The under-20 England international plays alongside his older brother Scott at Blackburn.

Crystal Palace have won just one of their past 12 matches in all competitions and are 15th in the Premier League.

  2. How Wrexham ripped up the FA Cup script long before their Hollywood erapublished at 19:09 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

Blackburn Rovers v Wrexham (19:30 GMT)

Wrexham may have an exciting future under film star owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, but their FA Cup past has a bit of Hollywood about it too.

The north Wales club will hope to make Monday's fourth-round tie at Blackburn Rovers the latest addition to a list of the upsets and cup crackers they have been involved in.

No-one should need reminding of the night against Arsenal 32 years ago, when Wrexham produced arguably the greatest cup shock of all.

But there have been other runs and remarkable scorelines in Wrexham's FA Cup story, including reaching the quarter-finals three times as a lower-division side.

And as Phil Parkinson's side travel to Championship opposition looking to reach the last 16, former winners Blackburn may be wary of what's gone before.

Blackburn Rovers v Wrexham (19:30 GMT)

Blackburn Rovers will be without defenders Hayden Carter and Harry Pickering through hamstring injuries for an extended period, boss Jon Dahl Tomasson has confirmed.

Carter, 24, has one goal in 79 first-team games since his July 2020 debut, and will miss 10-11 weeks.

Pickering, 25, has four goals in 107 matches since his move from Crewe in February 2021, and faces six weeks out.

Tomasson described the injuries as a "massive blow" during his media call.

"They're two players who've played a lot, and done well for Blackburn Rovers," Tomasson told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"Hayden doesn't need surgery but 11 weeks before he will be fit, it could be the end of the season but of course he needs to be back fit.

"Over the last one and a half years he's developed a lot and played a lot."
