It's the same old story for St Johnstone.

They've failed to score a first-half goal in 17 of their 21 games. No team has failed to do so more often in the Scottish Premiership this season.

There's slow starters and then there's that.

I think it's fair to say Todd Cantwell is a divisive figure in Scottish football.

He's not interested in the noise after that belting finish. If he keeps producing goals like that on a consistent basis, his detractors may have to reconsider their position.

Rangers have a record of W14, D0, L0 when leading at half-time in the Scottish Premiership this season.

In addition to that, the Ibrox side are unbeaten in their last 80 league matches when winning at the break.

I've been quiet, and there is a reason for that.

There there hasn't been a lot to say other than this has been a poor 45 minutes.

There have been few moments of attacking prowess in what has been a flat-paced, drab affair.

We can only hope things will improve after the break.

That Todd Cantwell goal in stoppage times gives Rangers a comfortable advantage as we head into the break.

There hasn't been bundles of quality, but two fine strikes have Philippe Clement's men in the ascendancy.

Thank goodness that's over.

Dante Polvara's shot which was saved by Saints keeper Dimitar Mitov is as close as either side have come.

And it's the only shot on target in a drab first half. Eight of the last 10 meetings between these sides have either finished 0-0 or 1-0.

St Johnstone create a chance.

A good cross from David Kjeltens from the right-hand side almost falls for Diallang Jaiyesimi, but Slobodan Rubezic just about gets it away.

There has been one shot on target in this game.

James Tavernier has just absolutely cannoned the ball off David Marshall's face, in what can go down as a unbelievable safe. I don't care if he didn't mean it.

The flag's up anyway, but it's still a cracking stop.

Kanayo Megwa, that's one way to endear yourself to the Hibs faithful.

He bodies Todd Cantwell off the pitch, who goes flying into the technical area and slide tackles Nick Montgomery.

Aye, sentences like that is how you know the Premiership is back.

He cuts inside to make room for himself and fires at goal. It's right at Jack Butland, but that might give the hosts a much-needed lift.

Aberdeen spring an attack and Jack MacKenzie drives into the box and slides a great ball across goal, but no red shirts are there to tap it in.

Rabbi Matondo on his bike again, this time charging through the middle.

His effort is blocked, but he's getting plenty of joy when he runs at a ropey Hibs backline.

This is a tepid affair.

Aberdeen are passing out from the back, but it's very slow and ponderous.

St Johnstone are soaking it up, but haven't been able to get on the front foot themselves.
