Southampton are closing in on completing a league double over West Bromwich Albion.
In November, goals from Will Smallbone and Adam Armstrong were enough to secure a 2-1 win for Saints, with Kyle Bartley netting an equaliser for Albion before Armstrong’s second-half winner.

It's incisive play down that left, Brooks has finished superbly.
They have cut Albion apart - 2-0 now really is asking a lot from Albion to get back in this game.
David Brooks
A second goal for Southampton!
It's another superbly taken goal as well, a first for David Brooks since his January loan move from Bournemouth.
Saints work the ball well down their left and it's crossed low for Brooks, who takes one touch to get the ball out of his feet and then passes into the corner from eight yards.

A reminder that West Brom boss Carlos Corberan was sent off early on for touching the ball while it was in play.
So Jorge Alarcon, one of his coaching staff, is among those taking on the task of barking orders to the home players.

Sekou Mara looks to get on the end of a through-ball on the edge of the box but Baggies centre-back Cedric Kipre is across to block him off.
Southampton make another change - David Brooks for Adam Armstrong. Not a bad player to bring on at Championship level.

Still no sign of an Albion equaliser - and the mood is starting to become a bit more subdued.
Who knows if that might actually help the hosts.
The Baggies have only beaten Southampton once in the past eight years and that was in April 2021, in the Premier League, during the pandemic - behind closed doors!

Albion midfielder Alex Mowatt blocks a Stuart Armstrong effort on the edge of his own box - it's another Southampton corner.
They're not in a rush to take it and, when Armstrong eventually delivers, it's not the best ball in.

Sam Edozie: £8m signing from Manchester City.
Six goals already this season, only 20 years of age, left winger, I've seen a bit of this lad and like what I see - definitely not dozy.
West Brom 0-1 Southampton
More frustration seemingly towards the officials from the home fans, unhappy that Tom Fellows is flagged for offside. The youngster had strayed a couple of yards beyond the last defender.
Southampton then make two changes - Shea Charles and goalscorer Ryan Fraser are replaced by Sam Edozie and Joe Aribo.

John Swift takes the free-kick - over the bar.

Southampton create the first chance of the second half.
A corner from their right is flicked into the path of Sekou Mara, but the ball almost hits his head before he has time to react.
A little earlier, Albion's Okay Yokuslu went into the book for a foul on Ryan Fraser.

Lord Tavistock: It was potentially a penalty for West Brom, although it was unintentional... everything else the referee has got spot on. Constant blaming of referees needs to be stopped.
Baggie Steve in London: Can we talk about how Russell Martin does his best to get a fellow manager sent off? (You probably won't post this but it was very poor).

Albion were romped by Southampton in the first 15 minutes, and it has started similarly in this half.
West Brom 0-1 Southampton
West Bromwich Albion v Southampton has been a fixture regularly played at Premier League level during the past decade.
You have to go back to April 2008 for the most recent meeting between these two clubs in the second tier.
That match ended as a 1-1 draw. Future England midfielder Adam Lallana, then aged 19, scored the opening goal for Saints before Chris Brunt netted an equaliser for the home side.
That result was all but enough for Albion to secure automatic promotion to the Premier League, and a few days later they secured the Championship title with a win at QPR.

The atmosphere has taken a bit of a turn since kick-off, though... will it have turned again by full-time?
We're about to find out.
