Jasper in Verwood: Trim of red... add some stars... West Brom kit next season will look awesome.

Martin: This game is crucial to Southampton's quest to pip Leeds to second and West Brom's credentials for fourth (sorry Ipswich, you'll be fighting to stay top six by the end of the season).

This is supposed to be West Bromwich Albion's night.

New owner in the house, fans singing incessantly and the place is bouncing - but Southampton clearly haven't read the script.

Stung by Tuesday's setback at Ashton Gate, Saints have started well, finished well to take a probably deserved lead - and the atmosphere is suddenly transformed.

It was like turning a power switch on and off, that change in volume. The Albion wall of noise came to an abrupt end - and there was almost a pause before the Saints fans suddenly took over!

Sekou Mara again gets in behind Albion's backline. A bad first touch prevents him from getting a shot away.

Then West Brom struggle to clear a cross and Adam Armstrong attempts to find the corner from close range, but the referee pulls him back for a foul.

    Relentless pressure from Southampton.

Southampton dominating possession here at The Hawthorns.

Albion all over the shop at the moment, they just cannot get hold of the ball.

Southampton press for a second goal and the two Armstrongs almost combine for a second goal.

Flashed across the box and just off the toe of the Saints man in the centre.

Bad marking from West Bromwich Albion - that's poor defending.

Not alert for the short corner played in first time by Armstrong to the back stick, where Fraser has given Southampton the lead.

Even without Carlos Corberan, there is no excuse - that was poor.

    Ryan Fraser

That is a tremendous goal to put Southampton in front!

Southampton play a corner short to Stuart Armstrong, the midfielder knocks in first time to the back post, where Ryan Fraser cushions a volley back across Alex Palmer into the far corner.

Looked simple, but you won't see too many better than that this weekend.

Goodness me. Now it's Southampton who are guilty of overplaying in their own defensive third and the hosts almost capitalise.

Saints go straight up the other end, Ryan Fraser tries to curl one into the far corner and is just off-target.

Dave: Soooo happy about the new owner... just hope he understands football in this country and that overnight success is not always achievable... oh, and do NOT replace King Carlos Corberan.

Albion have their first real foray of note into Southampton's box but John Swift's lofted cross is headed clear.

This is it - the modern goalkeeper trying to play football on the edge of his box.

I cannot understand the goalkeeper trying to play out there - it's crazy!

    West Brom 0-0 Southampton

And another Southampton chance! A big one too.

Albion goalkeeper Alex Palmer gives possession away cheaply and Adam Armstrong has an opportunity for the opener, but Palmer redeems himself with a good stop.

We talked about this before the game, how important Carlos Corberan is talking to his players.

The West Brom players will miss his energy on the sidelines, one of his assistants will now have to try and mirror his passion there.

  14. Albion boss Corberan sent from touchlinepublished at 7 mins

Wow - an early red card for Carlos Corberan!

The West Bromwich Albion head coach went out of his technical area to retrieve the ball - but the ball hadn't gone out of play!

Maybe there's a seat in the directors' box for Corberan next to the club's prospective new owner...

And then Saints right-back Kyle Walker-Peters finds himself in space just inside the box, but fires well over from an angle.

    It's all Southampton early on.

    West Brom 0-0 Southampton

Southampton have dominated the ball in the early minutes.

Sekou Mara beats the offside trap to race onto a lofted ball over the top of Albion's high defensive line and the hosts scramble it away for a corner, which goalkeeper Alex Palmer punches to safety.

    West Brom 0-0 Southampton

Well that's one minor milestone out of the way for Southampton already - they've lasted longer than Cardiff did at The Hawthorns on Tuesday without conceding a goal.

Mikey Johnston found the net after about 30 seconds in Albion's 2-0 win in midweek.

  19. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February

West Bromwich Albion are in their traditional blue and white stripes, Southampton are in black and grey.
