It is not exactly a milestone but worth remembering Manchester City were in front after just 12 seconds in the FA Cup final.

At least Manchester United have avoided that.

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, speaking to BBC Sport: "It is always nice to win. I think we have played much better games without getting the win but today we really needed it.

"I was not happy with the performance in the first half. Second half we read the situation much better. I think then we were the better team.

"I didn't like how we played in the first half, we talked at half time how to improve certain things and I think we did it.

"We have been playing well lately but not getting the wins. Maybe we needed a game like this where we were not playing well but got the win."

Manchester United found a way of getting over the line against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on Wednesday.

It was a really important win for their manager Erik ten Hag, but it was a scruffy one and it did not suggest that United are going to cause City many problems with Rasmus Hojlund out injured.

I watched Marcus Rashford lead their attack instead last weekend, against Fulham. I'd put Rashford in my Fantasy team and I was so disappointed - he barely had a kick.

This time, Ten Hag might try a tactic that has worked for United before against City, and go with split strikers, playing on the counter. It's probably a strength of theirs, playing on the break.

But United have got some key defenders out, as well as Hojlund, and how successful they are will depend on whether they can hang on in there during the long spells when City will have the ball.

City will win, I've got no doubt about that. It's just a question of how many will they score?

If it clicks for City, and Kevin de Bruyne has said he feels like he is getting better by the game, then I just think they could run away with it.

    Prediction: 6-1

  15. Pep - Let's feel the noisepublished at 15:24 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March

Man City v Man Utd (15:30 GMT)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the Etihad Stadium

There have been times in recent weeks when Pep Guardiola has had to appeal to Manchester City's fans to make more noise to encourage his team in their endeavours.

I don't think that will be required today.

However, just in case, he has mentioned it in his programme notes.

"You don't need me to tell you how important today's game is," he said.

"The players, the staff, everyone at the club.....we all know what this means to you.

"But one thing I know for certain is we will need you right behind us. We want to feel you energy, your noise, your passion."

On Erik ten Hag stating Manchester United have the most dynamic front three in the league...

I don't think they are the most dynamic, but potentially can be. Unfortunately for Man Utd they have not been on it, talent wise yes they have it, but there is better at this moment in time.

I understand what he is saying as he has the belief in his players.

    Manchester City

Man City boss Pep Guardiola, speaking to Sky Sports: “Crucial moments you have to play all the games. Of course a derby against them - we know their strengths and qualities.

On Man Utd strengths: "The manager Erik ten Hag knows better than me the plan, we will try to figure it out as quick as possible and put the right dosages of energy in and try to perform well."

On Kevin de Bruyne and Erling Haaland starting: “At the end we are here and many times we have been without them and still we are there.

"We won’t be at the top [of the league] tonight, but we are here because everyone is making contributions

"When they [Haaland and De Bruyne] perform at the highest level it is incredible for us."

On Jeremy Doku starting: "Jeremy has been amazing this season, the Tottenham game he was unstoppable. We need to arrive in the final third and he has the qualities."

  18. Focus on Andy Madleypublished at 15:20 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March

Man City v Man Utd (15:30 GMT)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the Etihad Stadium

After what happened at Nottingham Forest yesterday, we can only hope the post-match narrative is not focussed around the performance of referee Andy Madley.

This is his first Manchester derby, although he was in charge for United's recent home win against West Ham and City's draw with Chelsea in this stadium.

He hasn't sent anyone off in 2024. His booking ratio this year is less than three per game.

    On Manchester City's fixture list...

To them within the parameters of the training ground, they won't feel under pressure.

Pep will go into these games and attack them as he normally does. But if they do get the maximum points from these next games, the question is - how do you beat City?
