  2. 'An easy change to make'published at 13:44 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Wolves 0-1 Coventry

Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Palmer has had a good game. He's got about the pitch well. Coventry are being asked to get through a lot of work. At the minute, it's working. If you can make changes and keep the quality high, it's an easy change to make.

  3. Postpublished at 70 mins

    Wolves 0-1 Coventry

The impressive Kasey Palmer goes off for Coventry with Callum O'Hare coming on for what might be 20 minutes, maybe 50 minutes, maybe penalties on top of that.

  4. 'Coventry have to get that second goal'published at 67 mins

    Wolves 0-1 Coventry

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Wolves fans are going mad, they can't believe what they are seeing. Coventry have had four clear-cut chances there and I don't know how one of those does not find the back of the goal. They have to get that second goal.

  5. Postpublished at 66 mins

    Wolves 0-1 Coventry

Four chances for Coventry in quick succession. Haji Wright's effort is saved by Jose Sa's foot, Josh Eccles' follow-up shot is tipped away by Sa, it is crossed back into the box and Wright heads at the keeper.

But Wolves then give it away with Matt Doherty the guilty man, Kasey Palmer tries to loft it over Sa and he gets the height, but not the direction and wide it goes. A remarkable phase of play. Wolves hang on.

As a neutral, I think giving the goal is the correct decision. It was impossible to tell if the ball hit Simms' hand before striking his upper arm on the shirt sleeve. The shirt sleeve is allowed, but with the hand it was impossible to tell if it was hitting Simms or the defender's hand. After nearly five minutes of checking the replays and being unable to give a conclusive answer, allowing the on field decision to stand is the correct choice. A rare occasion where I have some pity for the VAR there. They were trying to make sure they didn't make a mistake, hence the long time spent reviewing it. But it's one of those rare occasions when they just don't quite have the perfect angle to show 100% conclusively if it was handled by the attacker.

  7. 'Ellis Simms leads the line very well'published at 13:36 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Wolves 0-1 Coventry

Ellis Simms was at Everton as a youngster. I saw him up close. He is a handful and he leads the forward line really well.

Old-fashioned centre-forward, likes the hustle and bustle of the game, but knows where the goal is. It's a brilliant set-piece, we thought they were going to go for goal. Latibeaudiere potentially gets a touch on its way.

More VAR nonsense. They should have a time limit of one minute to make a decision otherwise the on-field decision stands.

    Wolves 0-1 Coventry

I'd be interested to see the ruling that comes out of it. It hits the arm of Simms, but it also hits the arm of Toti first.

It shouldn’t take over four minutes to award a goal. If you can’t see a handball after fivereplays then award the goal.

    Mick

If you can’t see the error after 10 looks, surely it’s the ref's decision. This is a disgrace.

    Simon Stone

    That was remarkable.

You would expect the Coventry fans would be unhappy at being told the goal was subject of a VAR check.

But the Wolves fans were booing as well.

In addition to a song containing an expletive saying they didn't want VAR, they also sang; "Boring, boring" as the wait continued.

  12. Quick votepublished at 13:31 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

Should the goal have stood? Thumbs up for yes, thumbs down for no

OK, your turn. Should the goal for Coventry have stood? Yes or no? Thumbs up for yes, thumbs down for no.

  13. 'The drama of VAR'published at 13:31 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Wolves 0-1 Coventry

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

The drama of VAR. It's certainly helped Coventry this time. For the way they've played, Coventry probably deserve the lead. Even I was struggling to understand the law behind what happened. The goal is given and Wolves now have to come from behind.

  14. GOAL GIVEN - COVENTRY LEADpublished at 13:29 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Wolves 0-1 Coventry

Massive controversy at Wolves. The goal stands for Coventry.

Wolves have been on the wrong end of a number of VAR decisions this season and this could be another one. Ellis Simms gets his goal, but we will hear a lot about that decision later on.

  15. Postpublished at 13:29 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

Still we wait. VAR studying this very, very closely. Handball or not? Goal or not? Coventry lead or not?

  16. 'It will be disallowed if it comes off Simms' arm'published at 13:28 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Wolves 0-1 Coventry

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

If it comes off Simms' arm, they are probably going to disallow it. If it comes off Toti's arm then Simms, what do they do?

I think it does hit the arms of Simms, if it does, it is going to be ruled out. It's incredibly disappointing if it is for Coventry.

  17. Postpublished at 13:28 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

Nervous times for Coventry. This goal may be wiped out here. VAR check.

  18. goal

GOAL - Wolves 0-1 Coventrypublished at 53 mins

    Ellis Simms

Ellis Simms missed a huge chance in the first half but he gets a goal.

Will it stand though or is it handball?

A free-kick is played to the back post, Liam Kitching heads it across goal and Sims bundles it over the line. But did the ball go in off the arm to go in?

  19. 'Wolves fans will get nervous if this continues'published at 13:24 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Wolves 0-0 Coventry

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Coventry have started the second half in the same way they played much of the first, on the front foot. If they keep playing like this, the home crowd will get nervous and that will only play into Coventry's hands.

  20. CLOSE!published at 51 mins

    Wolves 0-0 Coventry

Haji Wright runs at the home defence and unleashes one from range with power, but the ball zips over the top. Not a bad effort, but he didn't test Jose Sa, who is still out there in the Wolves goal despite needing medical treatment early on.
