    West Brom 1-0 Coventry City

Kasey Palmer releases Ellis Simms inside the penalty area on the left, although he's the only Coventry player in the vicinity.

Cedric Kipre closes Simms down and sees the ball behind, and Darnell Furlong heads the ensuing corner away at the near post.

    West Brom 1-0 Coventry City

Milan van Ewijk won't relish the sight of Mikey Johnston running at him again. The right-back deals with the danger at the expense of a corner, which Luis Binks can't quite reach in front of goal.

    The ball bounces behind.

It was a brilliantly-worked short corner. I thought it got a deflection - it was perilously close to the corner.

Coventry are starting to grow into the game. They've not been having to defend, by and large. There have been a few runs down the sides.

That was a very good opportunity for Josh Eccles.

    West Brom 1-0 Coventry City

Order is restored for West Brom, who start a move from the back which ends with Mikey Johnston trying to cut inside from the left again.

The scorer over-runs the ball slightly, allowing Coventry to nick it away from him.

  5. CLOSE!published at 22 mins

    West Brom 1-0 Coventry City

Coventry's fans cheer because they think they've scored - and it was incredibly close!

The visitors play a devillishly clever corner routine, allowing Josh Eccles to curl in a shot which bends narrowly wide.

No sign of emotion from Mark Robins, but he surely thought there was a chance the net would bulge, there.

  6. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21 mins

    West Brom 1-0 Coventry City

West Brom left-back Conor Townsend protests his innocence but is booked for a clumsy foul.

This also affords Coventry a free-kick near the penalty area on the right. Victor Torp takes a right-footed pop at the chance, and the rising West Brom wall diverts it behind.

  7. Postpublished at 18 mins

    West Brom 1-0 Coventry City

As Tony Brown observed, Ellis Simms does look isolated when Coventry attack.

City haven't scored a league goal for more than two-and-a-half hours.

It's good play from Coventry. They've done everything right, it's just that end product they haven't been able to produce.

Kasey Palmer floats free and he's got to be picked up when he gets into that final third.

Carlos Corberan, who had been on the way to losing his voice before the game, is out of his seat and offering instructions.

Mikey Johnston gave the West Brom boss plenty to shout about with a goal which would have left some of the winger's admirers speechless.

End-to-end fare here: Kasey Palmer smacks a shot from distance over the crossbar.

We're just seeing that marvellous opening goal again. Mikey Johnston nutmegged Milan van Ewijk at the start of his scintillating run.

Okay Yokuslu is briefly down after hurting himself in a challenge on Josh Eccles.

Once he's back up, West Brom go on the attack and have successive crosses repelled.

  12. Postpublished at 11 mins

    West Brom 1-0 Coventry City

Coventry have failed to score on seven of their last eight away league visits to West Brom.

They need at least one goal tonight if they're to earn a point or three.

  13. CLOSE!published at 10 mins

    West Brom 1-0 Coventry City

Callum O'Hare spins expertly to launch a Coventry attack.

We mentioned Ellis Simms' hat-trick against Maidstone on Monday. His finish from just inside the penalty area on the left falls far short of that standard, rolling a tame low effort wide of the near post.

    Encouraging for the visitors, though.

  14. 'That's one of the goals of the season'published at 20:10 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March

    West Brom 1-0 Coventry City

    Steve Ogrizovic
Ex-Coventry City goalkeeper on BBC CWR

    What a goal that was!

Mikey Johnston has found the far corner of the net with a terrific finish. That's one of the goals of the season for me.

West Brom are really up for it.

West Bromwich Albion 1-0 Coventry City

    Ged Scott
    BBC Sport at The Hawthorns

Rattling good pre-match atmosphere as always at the Albion. And now they've turned off the tannoy and let the fans have their say, it's still a cracking atmo.

The Smethwick End are already in good voice.

And the away end of travelling Sky Blues fans are also making their presence known in support of their team tonight who sre in their Seventies throwback green and black change kit.

Only one complaint really. it is bloomin' cold, ay it?

But Mikey Johnston just made it a lot warmer for the Albion fans. What a sensational strike! For the older Albion fans out there, reminiscent of that other quality Baggies signing from north of the border maybe . . . the great Wilie Johnston?

    What a goal!

Mikey Johnston is in a useful position by the touchline on the left but still has plenty to do to create real danger for Coventry.

The on-loan Celtic winger weaves his way between two markers, enters the penalty area and curls a sublime effort into the far corner of the net.

    Some strike!

    Positive start for West Brom.

It's started off at a hectic pace - which you'd expect from a local derby. Plenty of tackles going in.

Albion have got to be aware of Kasey Palmer. He does break from midfield and he's got a good strike in him.

    West Brom 0-0 Coventry City

It's a bright start from West Brom, who set off on the attack in this noisy stadium.

Jay Dasilva has to perform some alert defending. Coventry then break towards the hosts' penalty area before their opportunity to create danger fizzles out.
