  1. 'Gordon puts his foot in the way of the clearance'published at 14:27 Greenwich Mean Time 30 March

    Newcastle 3-3 West Ham

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea and Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

For me neither of the penalties was a penalty.

In both situations Anthony Gordon does not go for the ball in either situation, he puts his foot in the way of the clearance.

He is very clever at it. Being clever doesn't mean you're right though.

Three minutes plus stoppages left. No one is leaving St James'. This has been a Premier League classic. How many times have we said that this season?

West Ham looked like they were home and dry. Now it's Newcastle who are going for all three points.

  3. 'Gordon put his foot where Phillips was going to kick'published at 14:24 Greenwich Mean Time 30 March

    Newcastle 3-3 West Ham

    James McFadden
Former Scotland forward on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think that the reason it has been checked and taken so long to award the penalty is that Kalvin Phillips is already in the motion of kicking the ball when Anthony Gordon arrives.

Gordon doesn't touch the ball, he puts his foot where Phillips is about to kick. It is one for discussion and debate for sure. No doubt Phillips wipes him out but it needs to be looked at the control Phillips seemingly has of the situation and then what the intent from Gordon was.

  4. CLOSE!published at 14:24 Greenwich Mean Time 30 March

    Newcastle 3-3 West Ham

West Ham are on the ropes.

Newcastle almost snatch a fourth as Sean Longstaff drives the ball across the six yard area and Harvey Barnes throws himself at it.

He cannot connect and the Hammers survive.

  5. 'What an impact Barnes has had since he came on'published at 14:23 Greenwich Mean Time 30 March

    Newcastle 3-3 West Ham

    Chris Sutton
Former Blackburn striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

What an impact Harvey Barnes has had since he came on to the field.

It is a brilliant run from the left hand side, curved his run so he stayed level, he goes in one v one and nutmegs Lukas Fabianski for the finish.

    What a game!

    Harvey Barnes

    Ridiculous, ridiculous, ridiculous game.

St James' Park explodes as substitute Harvey Barnes produces a moment of pure quality to finish beyond Lukasz Fabianski after the Hammers are caught cold at the back.

Is there time for a winner?

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14:20 Greenwich Mean Time 30 March

David Moyes has now been booked for arguing with the officials. The West Ham boss will not have liked Rob Jones' decision to award Newcastle a second penalty and he is making his feelings known.

How many more times can we say 'that's the worst var decision this season'. Absolutely shocking to give that penalty. Scandalous.

    Alex, Norfolk

That is ridiculous. I am a neutral fan, not a West Ham fan. But clearly Gordon put his body in the way. No penalty

    Christian

What’s Phillips supposed to do? He’s mid-kick when Gordon steps in from behind. If someone dives in front of a moving car is it the driver’s fault? Absurd use of VAR.

This has been an outrageously entertaining game.

And there's still another 10 minutes or so plus stoppages left.

Plenty of time for another twist or two.

    Same penalty.

Once again he shapes to go to the left of the keeper, waits for the keeper to go down and puts it into the keeper's right hand corner. Whips his foot around the ball to send it in the other direction.

Newcastle have a bit of hope.

  12. 'Sufficient contact for a penalty'published at 14:15 Greenwich Mean Time 30 March

    Newcastle 1-3 West Ham

    Chris Sutton
Former Blackburn striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Do you know what, it is a little bit similar to the penalty awarded in the first half.

Anthony Gordon is really clever, getting his body in between the player and the ball and Kalvin Phillips brings him down. There is sufficient contact.

  13. PENALTY TO NEWCASTLEpublished at 14:14 Greenwich Mean Time 30 March

    Newcastle 1-3 West Ham

    Chris Sutton
Former Blackburn striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Newcastle players are dropping like flies aren't they?

Harvey Barnes has come on and it is a good opportunity for him, Miguel Almiron had looked lively in the minutes since he had come on.

They've missed some chances too, just not their afternoon so far.
