Not long before Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City are all back in action again.

Arsenal host struggling Luton on Wednesday (19:30 BST) - the same night City entertain Champions League hopefuls Aston Villa (20:15).

Liverpool are in action on Thursday against bottom of the table Sheffield United at Anfield (19:30).

Manchester City and Arsenal handed Liverpool the advantage in the Premier League title race as they played out a bitterly disappointing goalless stalemate at Etihad Stadium.

Liverpool are now top of the table and two points clear of Arsenal after they came from behind to beat Brighton at Anfield, their delight increased by their two closest rivals cancelling each other out.

This was a game that made a nonsense of its billing as a potential classic, as Arsenal's containing tactics snuffed out City while the Gunners had only limited chances of their own in a desperately poor affair.

I think Manchester City should have been more adventurous and challenged the low block of Arsenal. They did the same thing for nearly 90 minutes and it gave Arsenal more confidence.

Go back to April last year, Arsenal lost 4-1 and got played off the park. They came here today with a clear plan to play against Man City and they succeeded. Was it great? No, but they shouldn't care about that.

This weekend's winners are Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp's side started it in second spot, level on points with leaders Arsenal.

They finish it with a two-point lead with nine games to go.

Why were Man City not being more adventerous? We only saw it in the final few minutes. They never had a shot from distance.

Erling Haaland only needs a chance to score a goal but you've got to give him that chance and I don't think his team did that for him today.

Pep Guardiola is on the pitch talking to both sets of players. He's saying something to Jack Grealish in a very animated way. Mikel Arteta is now showing his appreciation in front of Arsenal's travelling fans who seem in good spirits.

Anthony Taylor's full time whistle is cheered all the way back in Liverpool.

We've been so used to seeing Arsenal play slick, entertaining goal-scoring football. This has been a different side to them. They've dug deep and they're on the brink of claiming a precious point that could prove vital at the end of the season.

This has been a gritty defensive performance by Arsenal. They have frustrated Manchester City and restricted the hosts to just one attempt on target. That doesn't happen very often.

I think that's a penalty. William Saliba jumps straight into Erling Haaland. It looked like Saliba didn't even attempt to go for the ball.

Play has been stopped to allow Erling Haland to receive treatment on the pitch after an aerial challenge with William Saliba.

Now Arsenal are on the charge after that Haaland miss.

The Gunners are storming forward at pace and Leandro Trossard goes for goal instead of finding unmarked team-mate Gabriel Martinelli.

It's a comfortable save for Stefan Ortega in the end.
