This is the first ever competitive meeting between Paris St-Germain and Real Sociedad.

But while PSG are used to be at this stage, they know progression is never easy.

After reaching the final in 2020 and the semi-final in 2021, PSG have been eliminated from the last 16 stage in the past two seasons.

They also failed to win their last three group games.

Real Sociedad don't have a good record against French opposition, losing three of their six meetings in all competitions.

They lost twice to Lyon in the Champions League - going down 1-0 in both legs of a last 16 tie in 2003-04.

But Real Sociedad have done well this season in the competition, remaining unbeaten in the group stages, winning three and drawing three.

The Spanish side kept more clean sheets (four), conceded fewer goals (two) and faced fewer shots on target (12) than any other side in the group stages.

  2. 'Scorned Bayern will be too strong for Lazio if they show up'published at 18:49 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February

I'm thinking it's going to be Bayern Munich taking the win tonight, which isn't a very romantic idea on Valentine's day is it?

You want Lazio to win on their home patch but when you compare them to how they played last season they have sort of gone backwards.

Bayern Munich will feel scorned from the result at the weekend. losing heavily to their title rivals Bayer Leverkusen, and I think they will be too strong, particularly over two legs. If they show up then they will win comfortably.

We're back for more Champions League football with the last-16 ties continuing.

There are no English teams in action tonight but some big players will take centre stage.

Lazio host Bayern Munich, which will involve England captain Harry Kane, who has been in great form since his move to Germany.

Elsewhere, Real Sociedad are hoping to hurt Paris St-Germain's and Kylian Mbappe's chances of progressing to the quarter-finals.

Both games kick-off at 20:00 GMT.
