There was a moment just then when Bernardo Silva, running, controlled the ball with his first touch, then played it again before it had touched the ground, at the same time taking it past Christian Norgaard.

The move petered out but it was a piece of individual brilliance.

Good to see Yoane Wissa fit and well on the Premier League stage. He's had his fair share of injury problems but the Brentford man looks comfortable in possession.

Phil Foden whips another teasing cross into the danger area and Erling Haaland falls to the ground. City fans are screaming for a penalty but play goes on.

We've not seen too much from Brentford going forward so far but John Stones has to be alert to make a clearance after Ivan Toney tries to tee-up a chance. That was intelligent play by the forward.

Manchester City are rattling up chance after chance. After Phil Foden, who scored a hat-trick against the Bees in the reverse fixture, drags a shot wide, Erling Haaland heads another opportunity over the bar.

We've only been playing a couple of minutes and already Erling Haaland looks like a man on a mission.

He dropped deep to try and set up one attack, then barged Sergio Reguilon off the ball near the touchline before charging towards the penalty area and having his first shot.

I think he wants to banish the memory of his poor performance against Chelsea on Saturday.

I don't think Brentford have been outside their own half. Oscar Bobb wins a round of applause after showing quick-feet in and around the penalty box. It's all Manchester City in these opening exchanges.
