    Pep Guardiola is not impressed!

A high quality move by Manchester City sees Rodri produce a lovely pass to Kyle Walker who puts it on a plate for Bernardo Silva who heads it wide.

    That was a huge chance!

    Man City 0-0 Brentford

There's a healthy number of Brentford fans who have made the journey north to support their team. There are ironic cheers from where they are sat as Erling Haaland sends another attempt high and wide.

Almost half an hour on the clock. So far so good for Brentford...Liverpool and Arsenal.

That's going to land in Stockport!

A corner is floated into the Brentford box and is half cleared to Julian Alvarez who launches it towards the moon.

City are a team of beautiful football players and each of them are arguably among the best in their position. But they are dull to watch for the most part. Feels like they play with the handbrake half on. When it’s not they’re a different beast. Can’t argue with their results but I’d rather watch spurs (or arsenal).

A touch of frustration is seeping into Manchester City. After a fast start, they're struggling to seriously test Mark Flekken.

Nice take by Mark Flekken under pressure from a corner.

By the way, Brentford look dangerous on the counter. That pass by Yoane Wissa that set up Frank Onyeka earlier was a moment of real quality.

I triple captained De Bruyne this week - I'm expecting a hat-trick from him in the second half.

    Crikey!

And another chance for Brentford. This time they win a free-kick about 20 yards out. It's touched to Ivan Toney whose attempt isn't far off at all.

Brentford have settled into this after spending the opening 15 minutes on the back-foot.

First big chance - and it falls to Brentford!

A huge opportunity as Yoane Wissa releases Frank Onyeka who decides to go for glory with only Ederson to beat. It's a poor attempt in the end and Ivan Toney, who was unmarked, is not impressed.

There was a moment just then when Bernardo Silva, running, controlled the ball with his first touch, then played it again before it had touched the ground, at the same time taking it past Christian Norgaard.

The move petered out but it was a piece of individual brilliance.

Good to see Yoane Wissa fit and well on the Premier League stage. He's had his fair share of injury problems but the Brentford man looks comfortable in possession.

As a Brentford fan, I can’t but admire Man City. I hope the team isn’t decimated when the Fair Play charges are finally heard.

We've not seen too much from Brentford going forward so far but John Stones has to be alert to make a clearance after Ivan Toney tries to tee-up a chance. That was intelligent play by the forward.

Manchester City are rattling up chance after chance. After Phil Foden, who scored a hat-trick against the Bees in the reverse fixture, drags a shot wide, Erling Haaland heads another opportunity over the bar.

Mark Flekken with a punched clearance from a corner straight to Phil Foden who lashes it towards the net. It's blocked.

    Man City 0-0 Brentford

We've only been playing a couple of minutes and already Erling Haaland looks like a man on a mission.

He dropped deep to try and set up one attack, then barged Sergio Reguilon off the ball near the touchline before charging towards the penalty area and having his first shot.

I think he wants to banish the memory of his poor performance against Chelsea on Saturday.

I don't think Brentford have been outside their own half. Oscar Bobb wins a round of applause after showing quick-feet in and around the penalty box. It's all Manchester City in these opening exchanges.
