Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva, speaking to BBC Sport: "We need to do better. We have to react [after the Chelsea draw] and perform at our level and the standards we have created over the past six or seven years.

"I have a lot of respect for Brentford. Last season they beat us twice in the league and even this season...the game two weeks ago was very complicated.

"We're going to give them the respect they deserve and try to be at our best."

Although Kevin de Bruyne being on the bench reduces Manchester City's creative abilities, they do have other options.

I always feel they are a better team with Bernardo Silva in it.

He sees the game in a way few others can and can create danger in the smallest of spaces.

With De Bruyne, defences have to watch where he is playing the ball because he is so accurate. With Bernardo, it is where he will appear.

I thought Onyeka and Toney looked really good against Liverpool at the weekend and I think they could be very important against City tonight - come on Brentford!

    Brentford

Ivan Toney has scored four times in five games since returning from his long ban.

Pep Guardiola described the England forward, who scored both goals as Brentford won at Manchester City last season, as a 'master' in his pre-match news conference.

"He's so dangerous. He's a master to use his body for the second ball, good finishing, you can link with him he's one of the best I've ever seen [at that]," said the City boss.

I'd like to think the title race will go down to the wire. Crucial six pointer on March 10 when Liverpool host City. Spurs, Villa and Man Utd not serious contenders but Arsenal do have a chance of making the big two a big three.

Everything leads to March for Manchester City. Annoyingly, it [Chelsea result] makes March even more important. It makes Liverpool a have-to-win game but I'd take a draw right now at Anfield.

The way I see it is Manchester City are still very much in the title race, we've got the game in hand and have Liverpool and Arsenal coming up.

We've not, in my opinion, been at our best this season yet we're still in the Champions League, FA Cup and fighting for the title.

What I'm hoping is the Chelsea draw becomes a little shake that you need now and again. I'm expecting to see a big result against Brentford.

I knew Pep Roulette would happen this turn so I’m glad I didn’t captain De Bruyne like so many people did. Love you Pep! All I need now is Haaland not to score and I'm going top of my league!

Manchester in February can only mean one thing. Yep, it's chucking it down once again. At least the roof doesn't leak in this part of Manchester.

  12. Will Haaland return to scoring form?published at 18:46 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February

Man City v Brentford (19:30 GMT)

Another big night for body language experts everywhere. Will Erling Haaland be shooing away more television cameramen? Will the Premier League's leading scorer return to scoring form after failing to hit the net in six of his past seven appearances in all competitions?

Haaland had nine attempts last time out - as many as the whole Chelsea side managed between them.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on tonight's game and the title race: "It is an opportunity to go one point above Arsenal into second and be closer to Liverpool. The reality is since we lost to Aston Villa we didn't lose one game and the games we drew we were better.

"The games we won, we were better too. I don't know if we're going to win the Premier League. We're not satisfied with the result [against Chelsea] but it's part of the game and you have to give credit to Chelsea for what they have done.

"We have to continue to improve and focus and be in the title race."

The Opta super computer has Arsenal and Liverpool as more likely to go on and win the title than Manchester City, but has it not watched City over the last six seasons?

Still, I think we all expected City to go on and wipe the floor with almost everyone so for Chelsea to go there and get a point maybe, just maybe, gives Arsenal and Liverpool a little bit of a leg up at the moment. They have the slightest of advantages after City dropped points.
