Gordon: Sadly the number of injuries will curtail an assault on four fronts. Perhaps Liverpool need to concentrate on what they see as a priority trophy, or the one they think they have the best chance of winning. I can't see that happening, though. There's lots of chatter about players returning too early - this needs to be looked at alongside the number of games and intensity of style.

Luton Town’s Cauley Woodrow: “We know how good Liverpool are, but as we showed earlier on in the season we gave them a massive game at Kenilworth Road [1-1 draw].

"We are going into the game confident and hopefully we get something from it. We are not going to sit off and wait - hopefully we will put the opposition on the back foot.

“Every game from now till the end of the season is massive for us.”

The injury situation is approaching breaking point.

This is a big problem considering Liverpool now play nine games in 30 days - including the Carabao Cup final and a potentially title-deciding game against Manchester City.

Liverpool are playing well and Jurgen Klopp has rotated his team exceptionally, while also taking advantage of the five substitutes to keep as many legs fresh as possible.

But any more injuries to big players will surely prove unsustainable.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: “They [Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah] couldn’t have played tonight. Everybody who can play tonight will be there.

"From here we will see who will be back for Sunday [League Cup final against Chelsea], but that is not important at the moment.”

On Harvey Elliott making 100 appearances for Liverpool: “Absolutely incredible. It is a wonderful landmark for him and he is a lifelong Liverpool supporter and it is special.”

On Rob Edwards and Luton: “We are completely different since last time [facing Luton] they did well and we should have score goals. I have seen plenty of games of Luton's and the improvement they have made is crazy and deserves a lot of respect.

“Luton started very pragmatic [at the start of the season] and developed football based since then and it’s a really good job what Rob [Edwards] is doing there. Will it be a test for us? Yes.

“It is about getting in the game and causing problems and winning the game.”

David: Every team gets injuries. It reflects well on Liverpool so far that they have managed to come through the fixtures with their Premier League lead still intact. These next few weeks will be key but, when you see players like Conor Bradley, James McConnell and Bobby Clark come in and do well, then you have to think it can be done!

James: Even with the likes of Diogo Jota, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alisson out injured, this season bodes well for Liverpool because the chemistry in the team has never been stronger. The air of confidence exuberated by these players shows a level of depth we've not seen since the wonder years of the 1980s. It puts Liverpool in a pivotal position to not just win the title, but also the quadruple.
