The Canadian full back is now undergoing some medical treatment.

She stayed down holding her face after that collision with Maria Thorisdottir.

So much is the level of confidence running through the United side at the moment, right back Jayde Riviere takes it upon herself to drive in field with the ball.

She doesn't get very far though as former red Maria Thorisdottir jockeys her to the floor just outside the Brighton box.

Moments before the fourth United goal Julia Zigiotti became the first player to go into the referee's notebook.

A cynical foul off the ball in the middle of the pitch.

Still 30 minutes or so left to play and United could well end up scoring a hatful more in this game.

Marc Skinner's side look intent on adding further goals to their tally, as their away fans roar them on with chants of "We want five!"

    Lisa Naalsund (59 mins)

    Now that is game over.

Melvine Malard breaks into the box, drawing several defenders in before laying the ball off to her right.

Lisa Naalsund picks up the ball, makes room for the shot, and fires beyond a helpless Sophie Baggaley.

The frustration is just starting to creep in for the Brighton players now.

Katie Robinson chases down Hannah Blundell, shoving her to the floor before she can play a pass down the line.

Double change for the hosts as they look to get back into the game.

Emma Kullberg and Veatriki Sarri make way for Jorelyn Carabali and Madison Haley.

Another chance for Melvine Malard, another Sophie Baggaley save.

Running onto a pass towards the byline, she shoots first time towards the near post but once more the Brighton keeper denies her.

You have to feel a bit for Melvine Malard.

She did everything right, as she has on multiple occasions tonight, but was denied by another great save.

Her overall display, which has included two assists to this point, almost deserves a goal of her own to show for it.

    Brighton 0-3 Man Utd

Melvine Malard goes close yet again for United.

She is played through on goal by Lisa Naalsund, takes a touch and fires low towards the bottom corner.

Sophie Baggaley provides an equally impressive stop to keep Brighton within touching distance in the game.

Nervy moments at the back for Manchester United this time.

Hannah Blundell with a dodgy back pass to Mary Earps, who doesn't cover herself in glory either with her attempted clearance.

Luckily their teammates are on hand to recover possession and dispell the danger.

The hosts get us under way for the second half of this quarter-final.

Can they mount the comeback of all comebacks?

In contrast the picture looks very bleak for hosts Brighton going into the second half.

Just one shot on target in the first half despite having good spells of possession in the United half.

It would also be fair to say that they were the architects of their own downfall in the first half with their risky play out from the back.

They were perhaps lucky to not be more than three goals down at the break having presented their guests with the ball in their own box on more than one occasion.

At times this season Manchester United boss Marc Skinner has bemoaned his side's lack of cutting edge and decisiveness in the final third.

Well two goals from their first three shots on target, plus another goal just shy of half-time this evening showed just what the side are capable of when on form.

Well there were plenty of positives for Manchester United in that first half, with the side having taken their chances with ruthless efficiency to take control in this quarter-final tie.

But what about matters off the pitch at the club?

The club have been welcoming a new era of sorts off the pitch with the new investment from Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group.

Manager Marc Skinner is confident that the new investment will only be a "positive step" for the women's team he leads. But what does the investment really mean for the team, the manager and the women's side of the club going forwards?

  16. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:05 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

    Brighton 0-3 Man Utd

A clinical first half display from Marc Skinner's side leaves them with one and a half feet (figuratively speaking) in the semi-finals.

Brighton have a mountain to climb in the second half if they are to make it a second successive appearance in the final four.

Katie Robinson fires a searching cross into the United penalty area from the right hand side.

Having had very little to do in the first half her Lionesses colleague Mary Earps is forced to parry the ball away from goal at the very last.

GOAL - Brighton 0-3 Man Utdpublished at 18:00 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

    Lucia Garcia (45 mins)

    It is three now!

Manchester United work the ball into the right hand side of the box, Ella Toone with a neat reverse pass to Melvine Malard.

The Frenchwoman is able to poke the ball past the on-rushing Sophie Baggaley, but sees her finish bounce off the post.

Lucia Garcia is following in though, and taps home from what looked to be an inch away from the goal line.

    Game over?

  20. GREAT SAVE!published at 43 mins

    Brighton 0-2 Man Utd

Hannah Blundell, who this week signed a contract extension with Manchester United, takes aim on the half volley from the edge of the box.

Sophie Baggaley saw the shot coming all the way though, and threw up a strong right hand to parry the ball over the bar.
