Forward Elisabeth Terland has contributed a staggering 41% of Brighton's 39 goals scored across all competitions this season.

With the Norwegian having already found the net once and provided another goal in two FA Cup games so far, the Seagulls will be hoping she is on top form for the visit of Man United this evening.

Brighton interim boss Mikey Harris spoke of his side’s need to be "the best versions of ourselves" when they face a squad with the array of individual quality of Manchester United.

"It would be a dream to be involved in an FA Cup final and we’re two wins away from that,” said Harris. “United are a strong team, being fourth in the WSL is no mean feat," he said.

He added, "We’re confident in our own capabilities to win the game while aware of their quality. We will go into it full of belief."

For Brighton last season’s run to the FA Cup semi-final was a bright spark in an otherwise difficult campaign.

The Seagulls finished 11th in the Women’s Super League in 2022-23, just four points clear of relegated Reading.

The club have battled against the looming threat of relegation once more this season.

Although a statement win against Man City and a draw against today’s opponent Man United among other results have seen them climb away from immediate danger.

For interim boss Mikey Harris, it would be a clear indicator of his positive impact on the side if he were to guide them to their second successive FA Cup semi-final today.

In his pre-match notes United boss Marc Skinner spoke of his side being seen as 'failures' this season after falling below the lofty standards they set last year.

"We are being compared to the best-ever season the club has had by our women’s team, so if you compare us to that, then it could be seen as a failure. There is a lot of growth this year, a lot of adaptation we have made, future planning into the next seasons. We want to win things but we are not going to shy away from the fact we want to win every game.

He added: "It’s sometimes great having a team that is self-driven in moments like this. I think there is a nice blend of that. I don’t feel at this moment that this team need motivating. They are ready to go, they have energy and want to progress in this competition."

Manchester United hosted Brighton in the semi-finals of the FA Cup last season, requiring an 89th minute strike from super sub Rachel Williams to claim victory in a thrilling contest.

They would go on to lose the final, and the WSL title, to Chelsea at the end of the campaign.

It has been a very different story this season for Marc Skinner’s side. They fell out of the Champions League at the second qualifying round, failed to make the knockout stages of the League Cup and are currently 12 points offleaders Chelsea and Man City in the WSL title race.

The FA Cup represents one final shot at claiming silverware this season. Can they go one step better this time around?

  9. Team news - Brighton unchanged, no Galton for Unitedpublished at 16:54 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

Brighton XI: Baggaley, Thorisdottir, Bergsvand, Losada, Sarri, Bremer, Zigiotti, Terland, Kullberg, Pinto, Robinson.

Subs: Geum-min, Carabali, Haley, Mengwen, Johnson, Startup, McEwen, Dent.

Leah Galton is absent as Marc Skinner makes three changes from the Manchester United side who were held to a draw by West Ham in the league last Sunday.

Galton isn't in the squad, while Hayley Ladd and Rachel Williams drop to the bench.

Jayde Riviere, Lisa Naalsund and Lucia Garcia replace them.

Manchester United XI: Earps, Le Tissier, Blundell, Toone, Mallard, Zelem, Riviere, Naalsund, Garcia, Turner, Parris.

The two Women’s Super League matches between Brighton and Manchester United this season provided plenty of entertainment.

Brighton almost secured a famous win back in November, with Guro Bergsvand’s 89th minute header looking to be the winning goal. However super sub Rachel Williams scored in the eighth minute of stoppage time to rescue a point for Marc Skinner’s side.

Nikita Parris was the star of the return fixture at League Sports Village. Her brace secured a comfortable United victory, and earned her the February PFA WSL Fans’ Player of the Month award.

The stats are close at the final whistle, but it's Leicester who come out on top.

Leicester had nine shots to Liverpool's seven, and two shots on target to Liverpool's one.

The Reds had the more possession - 52% - but it didn't matter in the end.

The Foxes were clinical when needed and converted both of their shots on target. That made all the difference.
