    Aston Villa thrashed Ajax at a raucous Villa Park to move into the Europa Conference League quarter-finals - their first appearance in the last eight of a major European competition since 1998.

    Goals from Ollie Watkins, Leon Bailey, substitute Jhon Duran and Moussa Diaby gave Villa a thoroughly-deserved victory on a memorable night for the Villa fans.

    Villa will be the team everyone else wants to avoid in the Europa Conference League draw, when it is made at 13:00 GMT on Friday at Uefa's headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

    This is a day that will be talked about among the Villa faithful for years and years to come. Villa have been superb and are going to take some stopping in this tournament.

    This is the stuff of dreams for Aston Villa fans and continues Unai Emery's incredible job at Villa, who were only out of the Premier League relegation zone on goal difference when they sacked Steven Gerrard last season.

    Villa fourth in the Premier League and heading into the quarter-finals of a major European tournament for the first time since 1998.

    Jhon Duran blasted in a third off the underside of the bar. The referee pointed to his watch to signify he had been told it's gone over the line and Villa Park went crazy. They did again soon afterwards with Moussa Diaby grabbing number four.
