Arsenal are upping the pressure on the Luton defence as Kai Havertz gets up to meet a Leandro Trossard cross but the ball glances off the top of his head and away from goal, before Trossard's shot is blocked.

Nice move by Brighton as Adam Lallana and Joao Pedro link up just inside the Brentford box, but the defence does its job.

I think this counts as a shot on target but it is nothing to worry Thomas Kaminski as Martin Odegaard's effort into the ground is prodded back towards Kaminski by one of his team-mates.

Unfortunate for Luton as they attack down the left again but Alfie Doughty's cross hits Jordan Clark in the head and deflects behind for a goal kick.

An opportunity to attack for Luton as Ross Barkley plays a great ball to send Jordan Clark away down the left. He races towards the box and then fires in a low ball looking for Andros Townsend, but Oleksandr Zinchenko reads the danger well.

Brentford are really quite exciting to watch when they counter, full of pace and direct running.

Yoanne Wissa smartly knocks the ball beyond a Brighton defender and breaks down the right, but the visitors recover their shape quickly and force Wissa to turn backwards.

This game has settled into a pattern already. Arsenal have had a lot of the ball and are putting Luton under pressure. They've had a few shots blocked and they are just missing the final pass at the moment.

Luton are here to frustrate and they are doing just that. Arsenal need to be patient as another attacking move breaks down, this time Thomas Partey's lobbed ball into the box - aimed at Leandro Trossard - is headed away by Daiki Hashioka.

It is a big night for Emile Smith Rowe.

I have been there when you have been waiting for your time and then when it comes you have to get up to speed quickly. There is no time to waste when you are going for a title.

He is a very talented footballer, very elegant on the ball. He needs to get himself into that position of being first sub that Mikel Arteta calls upon when he needs a gamechanger, and it is a big opportunity for him to show what he can do tonight.

A swift move from their own box to Brighton's by Brentford ends with Yoanne Wissa shooting just wide from Keane Lewis-Potter's cross.

Brighton are passing the ball well now in tight spaces and fashion the first decent attacking move of the game as Pascal Gross fires in a cross from the left. Joao Pedro is first to it but prods well wide under pressure.

Arsenal keep up the early pressure and win a corner. The ball is played short before Oleksandr Zinchenko's stinging effort from distance hits Aldie Doughty.

Luton bravely - or foolishly - try to play out from the back. They are closed down quickly and Alfie Doughty loses the ball. Kai Havertz tries to work some space for a shot but his effort is blocked.

The loss of World Cup-winning keeper Emi Martinez to illness is a real setback for Aston Villa. He gives them experience, quality and confidence.

At least replacement Robin Olsen will not have to face Erling Haaland from the start as he is on the bench but still plenty of firepower in Manchester City's line-up.

Quite scrappy at the moment but both teams are getting stuck into challenges and closing down quickly.

Mostly defending to do for Luton at this stage but they are defending well. Arsenal are trying to make things happen through the middle.
