City have been really sloppy. It has been too easy for Palace.

Suddenly they have realised there is lots of space to work with behind this City back line. They will be encouraged by the start and will be looking to continue to exploit that space.

Palace are on the back-foot. Danger from City as Julian Álvarez forces Dean Henderson to stick out a leg and block. The visitors have also gone close with a header by Josko Gvardiol.

Very early in the game and Manchester City have been here before. Loads of time for them to get back into this but Palace look well up for this.

Pep Guardiola looked furious with his side's defending for the goal.

It was Adam Wharton's delicious pass that sent Jean-Philippe Mateta racing through.

What a signing Wharton has been.

City have the corner, it looks dangerous, but Palace have the breakaway and Jean-Philippe Mateta takes it superbly.

I thought he might have had too much time, thought he may square it, but he showed supreme calmness to slot the ball into the bottom corner.

A great start from the home side.

What a pass from Adam Wharton to send Mateta through and then it's an excellent finish off of the post before it goes. The crowd shout 'boom' as Mateta kicks the corner flag which is his trademark celebration.

Jean-Philippe Mateta cannot stop scoring under Oliver Glasner. That's his fourth under the new boss.

    That wasn't in the script!

Manchester City are caught cold by a pass that splits the defence and Jean-Philippe Mateta races clear to finish in-off the post.

Super composure by the Palace forward and Selhurst Park erupts.

Palace have to be compact and solid here, no silly decisions or early mistakes. They won't want to give any encouragement to Manchester City whatsoever.

    Phil Jagielka

Crystal Palace will definitely be keeping their eye on other fixtures for the next couple of games. If the teams below them do not put any pressure on them then they will be absolutely fine.

But if they have a couple of bad weekends then they could be dragged into it. At the moment, they do not look like they can go out there and win games.

They will be looking over shoulders, but as it stands there is no real panic.

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Man City

Manchester City have offered glimpses of hitting top gear but we've not really seen it consistently recently. Will they build on their big midweek win over Aston Villa?

It's Palace who get the game under way.

There is not a great deal of difference to Crystal Palace since the manager came in. They will be running and closing down the same as they have always done.

They are missing Michael Olise, who is on the bench, so the creativity will come from Eberechi Eze, and then also the physicality from Jean-Philippe Mateta upfront.

I think they will have to hold on as long as possible when it is 0-0 and bring in Olise hopefully when they are still in the game to make a difference.

We praised Erling Haaland last season for his patience and staying away from the play, playing off the shoulder of the defenders and taking his chances when they arrived.

This season he has not had the chance to do that as much, to run onto the ball facing the opposition's goal. I don't think it is a weakness of his game but holding the ball up and laying it off is something he will be working on.

As for the team around him, where they want him is between the width of the goal, ready to tap the ball in when it goes through the box.

  18. 'It is important to be efficient with chances against Man City'published at 12:24 British Summer Time 6 April

Crystal Palace v Man City (12:30 BST)

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, speaking to TNT Sports: "Yes of course, I think we create enough chances to score goals, we are dangerous in moments, but then we have to blame ourselves because we don't finish them. We don't take the goals with us. This is what we have to improve.

"We have been working on the goals in training and that will be important today especially against Manchester City, to be efficient with the ball because you do not get it for many minutes. It is not too easy to create chances to score against them, but we will have some so it is important to be efficient.

On current form and conceding late goals: "This week we have not really worked on it because it is three games in seven days so the training sessions have been about recovery and tactical training in the meeting room. Our issue is that we have had many injured players all over the season, so if you miss seven, eight, nine players it is not so easy for a team.

"There comes a moment in the season where you have this [conceding goals] in your mind. Against Luton we had chances to score a second and third goal but we hit the post, then it becomes a moment where you get afraid to concede a goal and then it happens and you concede. One side is physically we have had issues and the other side is mentally, so we are trying to improve this."

  19. Tough ask for Palacepublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 6 April

BBC football news reporter at Selhurst Park

It's a tough ask for Palace against Manchester City who have brought back in Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne. The Eagles only have one recognised centre-back in their back three with Joachim Andersen. Joel Ward has played most of his career at right back and Jefferson Lerma is a centre midfielder.

  20. 'You have to handle the players in the best way you believe'published at 12:21 British Summer Time 6 April

Crystal Palace v Man City (12:30 BST)

    Manchester City

More from Man City boss Pep Guardiola speaking to TNT Sports...

On Oscar Bobb starting over Phil Foden: "It is an opportunity. He is a young lad, incredible attributes. Ok Phil [Foden] has had more experience and time with the minutes so we cannot compare.

"[With Foden] Sometimes 30 or 40 minutes is better than 90 when the intensity is so high. Look what happened against Arsenal, after 96 minutes and 96 minutes with the national team he was mhmm [so so]. He was tired. That is why you have to handle the players in the best way you believe.

On facing Palace under Oliver Glasner for the first time:"I expect transitions, five at the back, always quality. Olise is back on the bench, and also Eze is exceptional. It has always been difficult to play Crystal Palace, home and away, they are always difficult, we know that. We try to do our best and go back to Manchester with a good result."
