Haha and that's game over after 6 minutes. So bored of teams just instantly folding against City.

The old saying about wingers getting the chalk on their boots could be applied to managers Pep Guardiola and Rob Edwards, who are standing right on the edge of their technical areas.

As I write that Guardiola steps out and is basically on the actual touchline.

It's such a big game for both teams. It would be a boost psychologically for City to go top here.

It could be a difficult afternoon in store for Luton, it just depends on how hungry Man City are.

One attack one goal, they will attack more and more. Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez and the rest will be desperate to get on the scoresheet today.

The side will want to make a statement in terms of catching Arsenal and Liverpool goal difference wise. Possibilities for that to happen today.

    So simple for Man City.

Luton try and go tight, man for man, the ball bounces in the middle of the pitch and before anything happens Kevin de Bruyne has put the ball through to Erling Haaland.

You expect him to score outright himself, a tame finish in the end for a player of his ability. Another effort from Jeremy Doku deflects up and it is a half sidwinder hit from Haaland, was going off target and the deflection from the Daiki Hashioka takes it into the net.

    FT: Newcastle 4-0 Tottenham

    Newcastle United

Eddie Howe, Manager of Newcastle United, talks to Bruno GuimaraesImage source, Getty Images

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe speaking to TNT Sports: "Tottenham are unique in what they do and we felt we needed to change to give ourselves the best chance of what we wanted to do. I thought tactically it worked, it was a really good delivery from the players, they always deserve the praise for the execution. Our concentration levels were really good."

On Fabian Schar's importance: "This season we've really needed him. he's been the consistent in the team and he's been incredible on the ball. It's no good being on the ball if you're defensively not at the highest level but he has been. His attitude to defending has been excellent and he deserves a lot of credit for his performances."

On the importance of fringe players to his team this season: "I think the emergence of some of the players people wouldn't have thought would have played will hopefully serve us well for the next few years. Elliott Anderson was excellent, he's been trying to burst into the team and stay in the team."

On whether Newcastle can finish above Manchester United: "Who knows, we've just got to keep doing our bit which is trying to win every game. We're hopefully returning to somewhere near our best and we've got to keep heading in that direction."

They say it's the hope that kills you and Luton only had about 70 seconds of that so maybe... that's... good in some way?

Thankfully Daiki Hashioka is OK as he almost seemed knocked out by that deflection and needed a far bit of treatment.

Oh this is a terrible goal but City won't mind. Inside 70 seconds, they lead at the Etihad.

Kevin de Bruyne slips it through to Erling Haaland. He's denied one-on-one by Thomas Kaminski but City retain possession.

Jeremy Doku's shot is deflected back to Haaland, he volleys it and it smacks the face of poor Daiki Hashioka, changing direction and nestling into his own net. The worst kind of own goal!
