Brentford v Sheffield United (15:00 BST)

The next two weekends are likely to play a huge part in deciding Brentford’s Premier League fate this season.

The key now seems to be maintaining a big enough cushion over third-bottom Luton Town.

If today's results go in our favour – with a Bees win and a Luton loss – we will travel to Bedfordshire seven points ahead of them, knowing that avoiding defeat there will be the key.

However, nothing is certain and if we lose to Sheffield United for the second time this season and the Hatters pull off any kind of shock at the Etihad, then if Luton beat us, they could draw level with, or even overtake, us.

Even though we once again lost points from a winning position, the point was a good one and can be regarded as a bonus, as we travelled to the West Midlands expecting little from the match.

And with our destiny still in our own hands, we have to remain optimistic that we will get over the line.

Man City v Luton (15:00 BST)

    Paul Robinson
Former Tottenham and England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

The job Rob Edwards has done is phenomenal, I wrote them off wrongly.

I don't think anybody would have predicted that Luton would have given themselves a chance of staying up.

They are on a difficult run and have only won two in 13 games in all competitions.

But, they have quickly become everyone's second team.

  3. Stones 'not fully fit'published at 14:45 British Summer Time 13 April

Man City v Luton (15:00 BST)

    Tom Gayle
BBC Radio 5 Live commentator at the Etihad

Surprisingly Pep Guardiola wasn't asked to explain John Stones' absence during his pre-match interview.

I've done a bit of digging and Manchester City say the England defender is being rested because he's “just not fully fit".

  4. Sutton's predictionpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 13 April

Nottingham Forest v Wolves (15:00 BST)

This is big for Nottingham Forest, who need to bounce back from last week's defeat at Tottenham.

I always think Wolves are well organised, though, even if their results have dropped off a bit with only one win in their past five games.

Wolves boss Gary O'Neil is still fuming about having a late goal ruled out for offside in their defeat to West Ham but I felt it was the right decision.

    Sutton's prediction: 1-1

Up until this season, games against Arsenal used to be rather fun for Brighton. Take the trip to north London 11 months ago. The Albion won 3-0 at the Emirates to end the Gunners' title hopes, sparking a mass exodus of home fans before the final whistle. Glorious.

Not so much any more. Brighton have lost both games against Arsenal this season by an aggregate score of 5-0. It could have been worse at the Amex on Saturday without three fine saves from Bart Verbruggen.

There is now a gulf between two clubs who were previously evenly matched based on results. Obviously, it helps that Arsenal can go and pay £105m for Declan Rice. And while Brighton will never match that spending power, there is still a lesson there for the Albion.

Whereas Arsenal have evolved and improved their squad, Brighton have stood still this season. Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo have been huge losses, replaced by Mahmoud Dahoud - who lasted six months before being loaned to Stuttgart - and Carlos Baleba – a young, raw talent only now showing his ability.

Injuries have not helped, but the additional workload brought about by the Europa League was always going to require a deeper squad. Any review of the campaign will surely conclude the one put together was not deep enough.

  6. 'Nowhere near good enough'published at 14:43 British Summer Time 13 April

    FT: Newcastle 4-0 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou speaking to TNT Sports: "I thought Newcastle were really good today. We just didn't get to any levels that would allow us to get a grip on the game."

On the impact of the timing of Newcastle's goals: "Not really. I thought even before the goals we didn't have a real grip on the game like we usually do. It became a game of transition and we paid the price for that. Even outside the goals I don't think our football was anywhere near the level it should be."

On what went wrong for Spurs: "We'll have time to analyse that, right now not really sure."

On Micky van de Ven's mistakes: "I think for all of them that's the life of an elite footballer, you're going to make mistakes. I'm sure he's going to make many more of them in his career. It's about how you react to those mistakes. I think all of us as a group have a fair bit to learn from today."

On what he hoped to change with the triple-substitution: "Pretty much everything, it wasn't about the people coming off, we just weren't taking control of the game, we were allowing Newcastle to dictate. Made the changes hoping we could stem the tide and we did a little bit but it's still nowhere near good enough."

  7. Luton's rise is 'absolutely incredible'published at 14:42 British Summer Time 13 April

Man City v Luton (15:00 BST)

    Emlyn Begley
    BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium

    Man City programme

Most of Pep Guardiola's programme notes today focus on the 3-3 Champions League thriller against Real Madrid on Tuesday, although he does talk about today's match too.

"What an amazing success story Luton are," he says. "What they have done in recent seasons is absolutely incredible.

"They have a real chance of staying in the Premier League which would be an unbelievable success.

"They are a credit to their fans and an example to any other football club in England who want to do better."

Bellingham Rice Gordon Foden Saka. Jude can play the box to box role, he did at Dortmund. Gordon is a better winger than Foden. We'll need to stretch the pitch to give Kane space against the better teams.

It’s early days, but the start that Oliver Arblaster has made to his Blades career has been a huge source of encouragement for what may follow for the young midfielder and boyhood Blade.

Arblaster’s latest performance was against a Chelsea midfield three that cost over £250m – and he flourished. No player in the league created as many chances in this weekend’s round of fixtures as Arblaster did against the Blues.

I can’t overstate how impressive this is for a teenage midfielder who was on loan in League One earlier this season. He’s been dropped into the central midfield of the worst team in this year’s Premier League, and has immediately looked at home at this level.

Better still, Arblaster looks like a player who doesn’t carry any scars from the rest of the season. He’s playing without fear of failure, trying to progress the ball up the pitch whenever he can without simply passing it off at the first opportunity.

Man City v Luton (15:00 BST)

    Fara Williams
Former England midfielder on The Friday Football Social

People are drawn a little bit more to Luton because they show that little bit more grit and fight.

They have brought that never-say-die attitude to the Premier League. They do keep you on the edge of your seat and glued to the TV because you don't know what is going to happen in Luton's games.

  12. 'Scoring back to back can make it feel like the stadium is suffocating you'published at 14:39 British Summer Time 13 April

    FT: Newcastle 4-0 Tottenham

    Newcastle United

Newcastle forward Anthony Gordon speaking to TNT Sports: "We knew we couldn't play our normal way against this team because they are so good with the ball. So we changed tactically, went man for man, and the game plan that the manager set us up with was outstanding."

On the timing of his goal: "I think especially here at St James' with the crowd, if we can score back to back, quite close then it can feel like the stadium is suffocating you. Trust me, I have been here as an away player and it definitely feels like that.

"It came at a vital time and from there I felt like we controlled the game."

On his goal return this season: "Yes really happy but it shows that I need to also get better away from home, contributing more as I do at home. Very happy but still a lot to work on."

On Alexander Isak: "it is hard to describe. You can see on the pitch he is so, so gifted. He can become one of the best players in the world, and when fit he is so good to play with. For the assist I just passed him the ball and then he sat a few players down, it was all him. What a player and more importantly what a person."

On chasing Europe again: "It's massive. We've had a taste for it this season and we want next year to be the same. With performances like we put in today, that won't put us far wrong off that."

  13. 'We lacked a little bit of conviction'published at 14:38 British Summer Time 13 April

    FT: Newcastle 4-0 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It's a tough one, a bit raw at the moment. Credit to Newcastle, I thought they were really good today. We never really got to grips with the game and weren't able to execute any of the stuff we usually do. Credit to them but just have to take them."

On whether Newcastle's two quick goals made the difference: "I thought even before that we lacked a little bit of conviction today throughout a lot of things. They can hurt you particularly in transition and they did that today."

On whether he thought his triple-substitution worked: "They tried hard, it's difficult because to be fair we didn't have anyone playing near the levels. Tried hard enough."

On needing to bounce back: "You've got no choice. You can't sit there and feel sorry for yourself, it's not the nature of what we do. There's some lessons in there, we've got to take them and look ahead."

I'm sure most players feel tired by this stage of the season but I did not expect Pep Guardiola to come out and name Rodri in particular when he spoke about it.

We know what City are up against, they are on course for a potential second successive Treble, which is a position every player would love to be at come the business end of the season.

They have so much quality and strength in depth in the squad and I am sure Pep Guardiola will manage it, but he didn't seem too pleased when speaking about Rodri's comments [on tirednesss].

Still some potential twists and turns in the title race and the battle for relegation.

Manchester City are first up this weekend from the top three and they currently sit third, one point below Arsenal and Liverpool.

Both of their rivals play tomorrow so they will be hoping to pile on the pressure.

Meanwhile, Luton Town and Nottingham Forest are level on points around the relegation zone.

  16. Luton chase 'one of results of century'published at 14:34 British Summer Time 13 April

Man City v Luton (15:00 BST)

    Emlyn Begley
    BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium

It's a big day for both sides, with Manchester City able to go top and Luton could climb out of the relegation zone with a win - or maybe a draw if Nottingham Forest lose to Wolves.

Luton boss Rob Edwards says his team will "have to ride our luck" to get something from this game.

"We’ll need our players to play a 9, 9.5, 10, and Thomas [Kaminski, goalkeeper] will need to make some saves if we’re to get something.

"If we get a result, given all the problems we’ve got, it’ll be one of the results of the century.”

A poor performance from Spurs, I am intrigued to see what Ange Postecoglou says after the game - he is a manger who speaks honestly.

It's a bad day the office for Spurs, but they didn't even turn up to the office.

There was some real brilliance from Anthony Gordon, and the good news for Newcastle is they jump up two places!
