An unusual atmosphere is expected at Vitality Stadium.

It will be the first of two Premier League meetings between the sides in the space of three-and-a-half weeks - but this one has the poignancy of being the game rearranged after the abandonment of 16 December when Luton captain Tom Lockyer suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch.

Lockyer will be in attendance, and there may not be many dry eyes in the house when both sets of fans share a minute’s applause in the 59th minute to thank the medical staff who saved the Hatters skipper’s life that day.

Cherries midfielder Philip Billing, who was the first player to run over to assist Lockyer and frantically signal for play to stop and the medics to run on, is also guaranteed as warm a reception from the away supporters as from the home contingent.

This is not a night the players of Bournemouth and Luton are particularly looking forward to, with the events of 16 December still fresh in the mind.

At the time, Luton's players did not know if their captain would survive.

Hatters defender Issa Kabore prayed on the pitch while his team-mate received urgent treatment, while there were Luton fans in tears in the stands.

Bournemouth fans responded by applauding their rivals, with one fan forming a heart shape with their fingers.
