Is the ball holding up a bit on this pitch? It kinda looks like it.

Scott Wright tries to reach Cyriel Dessers but the rain is playing it's part and comes to Benfica's rescue.

Even by Glasgow's standards, the rain at Ibrox is biblical.

  3. 'Offside or not, he should score'published at 18:26 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March

    Rangers 0-0 Benfica (agg 2-2)

    Steven Thompson
Former Rangers striker on BBC Sportsound

That's two times tonight Dessers has made a run and been offside.

When he gets in he doesn't know he's offside but he really should've scored.

    Forty minutes in already.

    That's been rapid.

    Rangers 0-0 Benfica (agg 2-2)

Rangers deal with about a million corners then all of a sudden Scott Wright is away.

He carries the ball so, so well, finds Tom Lawrence and he feeds Cyriel Dessers.

The striker should burst the net but he's about two yards offside anyway.

  6. 'Lundstram switches off'published at 18:24 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March

    Rangers 0-0 Benfica (agg 2-2)

    Ally McCoist
Former Rangers striker & manager on TNT Sports

Lundstram gives the ball away, which can happen. But you cannot switch off defensively, which he did.

    He didn't track Di Maria.

  7. Postpublished at 18:23 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March

    Rangers 0-0 Benfica (agg 2-2)

John Lundstram gives the ball away so cheaply and it's desperate defending from Rangers as Angel di Maria's pass across the face of goal somehow doesn't get turned in.

  8. Postpublished at 18:22 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March

    Rangers 0-0 Benfica (agg 2-2)

Tom Lawrence gets the ball from Fabio Silva on the edge of the box, but he's not got as much time as he thinks and red shirt pokes it away.

Angel di Maria curls in a beauty of a cross from the right but nobody is there to turn it in.

He then tries an ambitious one seconds later from range. Miles over.

Referee has just tripped and hit the deck.

    I'd say that's a dive.

  11. Corner crazypublished at 18:18 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March

    Rangers 0-0 Benfica (agg 2-2)

There have now been a combined 21 corners taken in the two matches between Rangers and Benfica so far, but neither side have managed to score a goal from them.

Excellent intricate play from Rangers but Scott Wright gets a bit too excited and blasts off target from about 25 yards.

  13. Captivating occasionpublished at 18:17 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March

    Rangers 0-0 Benfica

    Martin Dowden
    BBC Sport Scotland at Ibrox

You just can't take your eyes off this for a second.

It's so evenly matched with both showing a real determination to go and win this.

It's had everything but a goal with the feel of real cup tie that could go either way.

    Utterly captivating.

Angel di Maria's strike is sliced on the slide but it pops up nicely for Marcos Leonardo.

He can't direct his header on target though. Half chance, that.

  15. Cautious Tavernier?published at 18:15 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March

    Rangers 0-0 Benfica (agg 2-2)

James Tavernier's positioning so far has been rather conservative, compared to usual.

He's not getting up in support of attacks really. Daresay that might change as this game goes on.

Rangers are the black counters on that graphic and Tavernier is number two.

Ridvan Yilmaz's corner is really good but nobody in blue wants it.

  17. 'Superb Souttar'published at 18:13 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March

    Rangers 0-0 Benfica

    Stuart McCall
Former Rangers midfielder on BBC Sportsound

Superb by Souttar, he read the game well and what a fantastic whipped cross.

    Good defending by Benfica.

Brilliant from John Souttar, who takes a wander forward and whips one in to Cyriel Dessers.

His header takes a nick and it's a corner.

  19. Postpublished at 18:12 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March

    Rangers 0-0 Benfica (agg 2-2)

Nervy stuff from Benfica keeper Anatolii Trubin again.

He just lashes at a clearance and it's out for a throw.

  20. Postpublished at 18:10 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March

    Rangers 0-0 Benfica (agg 2-2)

John Lundstram nicks the ball from Benfica to start a spell of possession for Rangers.

The move ends with Ridvan Yilmaz's inviting cross being headed away by Nicolas Otamendi.
