A special atmosphere at Anfield. Liverpool fans all around the stadium waving their red and white scarves. You can see humungous flags that are always waving week in week out.

No fireworks or flames and no light show as the teams emerge from the tunnel.
They are not needed.
Just raw emotion and passion from 60,000 packed inside Anfield.

The noise is deafening and the atmosphere inside Anfield is electric. A huge flag has just been passed around the stands reading “19 Times” as a reminder of Liverpool’s title credentials.
And what a contrast as the teams are read out. You could barely hear the City names for the jeers while Liverpool’s names are cheered to the echo.
What a stage for this huge game.

Ferguson v Wenger was seen as the golden era of Premier League football but surely Klopp v Guardiola has to be up there?

You know that they [Darwin Nunez and Erling Haaland] are ready for you, they're coming for you and you know that before a game. You can see it in their eyes.
When you have got a focus like that in a striker's eyes coming against you, it doesn't make you step off it makes you stand up to the situation but you know they are ready for the game.
The pair of them have that.

They are reading the names of the players out over the speakers. Anfield seems extra loud. today. The biggest cheer is reserved for one of the substitutes.
The home fans cannot wait to see Mo Salah involved in this.

I think Caoimhin Kelleher brings a calmness to the whole team and that is very difficult to coach.
Some keepers have it and some don't. You see some ranting and raving.
He made a save in the [League Cup] final and he just got up and got on with it as if nothing really happens.
That calmness spread through the team.

A huge day for the likes of 21-year-old Jarell Quansah and Caoimhín Kelleher.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports: "Its fantastic. Sold out Anfield what can I say? I am really excited.
"There was a Liverpool football club before me and there will be Liverpool football club after me.
"But, it is not about that. I am a very emotional person but I don't feel it at the moment, I am just happy to be here and hopefully we can do it - we better play a good football game!"
On game-plan: "To be super brave and to do all the things with full conviction. It is required in the moment, we have to be there and really fight with all you have and play with all you have in the moments."
On Mo Salah: "Unlucky setback. It was not my idea to start him, we can bring him on which is super cool."
On Robertson being benched: "A couple of things at the left-back situation. Robbo [Andy Robertson] played two games in a row, we decided for rhythm and all is a good shape."

On Pep Guardiola only having one win in eight games at Anfield...
It shows the brilliance of Anfield, of course you have that self pride where you want to overcome these results, but the bigger picture is winning the league - if you don't win, do not lose!

On the player side, Virgil van Dijk ultimately for Liverpool is going to be key and whether he can organise that defensive line.
Defensively for Manchester City, how John Stones controls possession will be important and how he makes sure he is in the right positions not to be countered.
Also, if Kevin de Bruyne plays to his potential then that could be the difference.

While much of the talk is about Haaland, Nunez & Salah, I was more interested in the battle between the two playmakers; Trent & De Bruyne. Such a shame TAA isn’t fit for this one. He would have made the difference today.

On it possibly being the final Klopp v Guardiola: "Right now not much, I'm thinking about what they have to do."
On Ruben Dias being benched: "Having travelled three-to-four central defenders I decided for Manu [Manuel Akanji] with his speed - he is facing one of the fastest players [Darwin Nunez]."

This could prove to be the final direct match-up between Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola, and the former may feel it is one of their most important.
A win could not only put his side in pole position for the league, he may feel it is another springboard towards achieving immortality.
The stage is set. A bubbling cauldron at Anfield.

Let’s be realistic, if City don’t demolish this depleted Liverpool side when they’re likely the best team in world football right now they should be disappointed. As an Arsenal fan I’d take a draw!

We can't forget before Klopp arrived in 2015 and Pep arrived in summer 2016 the Premier League was nowhere near as good as it is now.
It was not a league where we would take our teams far in the Champions League for example.
The impact they have had on this league and what it is now is incredible.

So where could Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola next meet?
Well, with both Liverpool and Manchester City still in the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage, they could face off again at Wembley. City host Newcastle and Liverpool are at Manchester United in the last eight.
After that, though, and it is anyone's guess.
Klopp has already said he will never manage in England again - and that he intends to have a year off in 2024-25.
The bookmakers reckon his most likely next job will be as Germany manager.
Guardiola has another season left on his City contract at the end of this one and has hinted he will stay on beyond that.
The former Spain midfielder has said he would like to manage an international team one day, with Brazil and England among the nations he has been linked to.
So could their next meeting be at the 2026 World Cup in North America or Euro 2028 in the UK and Ireland?
