Since the goal Liverpool have upped it a bit. They have pushed higher up the field.

I thought that was the danger when they push and leave a gap for de Bruyne to get the ball in the middle.

The last three or four minutes they haven't got that so it is a little bit better for Liverpool.

Jarell Quansah has done well against Erling Haaland so far.

Manchester City have won themselves another corner after Kevin de Bruyne's attempt from out the box deflects off Conor Bradley and fizzes behind.

Liverpool are snapping at Manchester City's heels.

Good work by Conor Bradley comes to nothing before Jarell Quansah makes another important challenge to prevent Erling Haaland from getting a shot away.

The really clever bit is the fact they've not put Erling Haaland in a position to score the goal... it's John Stones.

Huge chance for Liverpool to equalise!

Great work by Harvey Elliott who floats a cross into the box but Dominik Szoboszlai cannot make it count and heads wide.

I wonder if Guardiola would like to revisit his comment about refereeing at Anfield? City players get away with cynical fouls more than any others.

    Chris

How on earth has that goal been allowed. Liverpool scored a similar one in the cup final but was disallowed. Rules seem to change every week, every game.

When you see it from behind the goal Alexis Mac Allister is pulling Nathan Ake towards himself, there is nothing wrong with the goal - it's a clever corner from Man City.

The corner that led to the goal came about after Virgil van Dijk made a defensive header to prevent Erling Haaland from scoring.

Manchester City have been all over Liverpool.

Ederson has not had a save to make.

The importance of set-pieces this season has been absolutely incredible for all the top teams.

Usually in the air the have been superb but this one, a very rarely played type of corner kick.

Everyone runs out, defenders run out with him. They know, they have set it up on the training ground.

One straight off the training ground and Manchester City have the lead. It took a few seconds for most of Anfield to register that John Stones had actually tucked that one in at the near post.

Liverpool asleep. City wide awake and it's 1-0 to the reigning Premier League champions.

That looked like genius from Kevin de Bruyne. How has he spotted that run from John Stones?

It is something they have worked on, things like that don't just happen. What a man to execute it.

Natahan Ake blocks Alexis Mac Allister, has he prevented the Liverpool man from getting into that space.

The delivery from De Bruyne is beautiful.

Kevin de Bruyne fizzes in a corner and John Stones loses his marker to slot home and give Pep Guardiola's side the lead.

    Advantage City.

There was no need for him to go that early!
