That's as far as we go here this evening.

Leeds were deserved winners in the Yorkshire derby at Sheffield Wednesday and will go into the weekend in second place in the Championship.

Goals from in-form striker (and part-time BBC podcaster) Patrick Bamford and Willy Gnonto (not a podcast host as far as I know) were the difference for Daniel Farke's men.

You can read the report here.

We'll be back from 12:15 GMT tomorrow as Ipswich look to take second spot back when they visit Cardiff.

Hope you can join us then and thanks for your company this evening.

    Cheers!

Sheffield Wednesday would have moved out of the relegation zone for the first time since August with a positive result tonight but it'll be another weekend in the bottom three for them now.

Still, just two points separate them from 16th-placed Plymouth - so they will hope that when they return to action in next week's trip to Ipswich they're still within touching distance of the teams above them.

Some humdingers down at the bottom end tomorrow as Blackburn welcome Plymouth and Birmingham visit Millwall.

    Hold on to your hats!

Leeds go back up to second before Saturday's action.

Ipswich will go back ahead of them if they can get a positive result at Cardiff in the day's early kick-off.

Leaders Leicester, who ended their run of three straight losses in midweek with a 1-0 win at Sunderland, visit sixth-placed Hull City.

Fourth-placed Southampton aren't totally out of the automatic equation and they entertain the out-of-sorts Black Cats.

Comfortable - that's the word. Leeds were far superior in that second half. The first half was gritty, Sheffield Wednesday made it hard for Leeds to break them down but goals change games.

Sheffield Wednesday had to come out second half and force the issue but when teams do that, it plays into the hands of Leeds United.

I thought there were some good performances from Leeds players. Glen Kamara had a good game as did Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon. Patrick Bamford scores a goal and leads the line well. Junior Firpo had a much better second half but was woeful in the first half - second half, he got the bit between his teeth.

Lee in Leeds: Re Andy in Telford. You seem to be missing the point. Yes, you're right. This team IS better than the one Bielsa got promoted. That's what made Bielsa so great, he turned average players into very good players.

Gavin Yardley: Yes, these are a better group of players, so shows what a great manager Bielsa is.

Oli, Leeds fan: This team could very well be better than the one Bielsa had, which is why what he did was so incredible!

Mark in Cambridge: Bielsa took good average players and made them very good. Like Dallas, Ayling, Phillips and Bamford. Bielsa also had a smaller squad and depth.

If you're just joining us, Andy from Telford (21:34 GMT entry) suggested this Leeds side might be better than the one Marcelo Bielsa took up in 2019-20 and people have had lots of to say about that.

Job's a good'un and it's 11 wins in 12 league games for Leeds as they go back up to second.

Patrick Bamford got them up and running with a close-range finish from Junior Firpo's excellent cross in the last minute of time added on at the end of the first half.

The Whites carried on where they left off after the break and got the second goal their dominance merited when Willy Gnonto kept his cool to score after being played in by Georginio Rutter.

Wednesday's best chance came in the opening 15 minutes when Illan Meslier made a good save to deny Anthony Musaba from close range.

The Owls' run of four successive wins comes to an end and they stay in the relegation zone for now.

The young Brighton keeper has had another decent game this evening.

The substitutions made by Leeds are actually helping Sheffield Wednesday. The two wide players that they've taken off were creating problems but now there's one player in the middle and everyone else has dropped off.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 87 mins

    A fourth Leeds sub.

Georginio Rutter won't be getting a goal this evening as the Frenchman makes way.

Joel Piroe is on for the closing minutes.

Wednesday are still trying to land some punches of their own here to their credit.

They've battled back from 12 points adrift to now being in the bottom three on goal difference only.

It doesn't get any easier for them next week though, they visit fellow promotion chasers Ipswich a week on Saturday.

  13. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 82 mins

    Sheff Wed 0-2 Leeds

    Leeds make three subs.

Mateo Joseph, Connor Roberts and Dan James are on and Patrick Bamford, Willy Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville are off.

The away side will just look to manage it out from here.

The Owls throw on Bailey Cadamarteri and former Leeds youngster Mallik Wilks for Ike Ugbo and Anthony Musaba.

Lee Suter: Re Andy at 21:34. The difference with Bielsa's Leeds is what he did to raise the quality of the players - Farke's were good when he got them.

Dan: I'm with you 'Andy in Telford' I'd also say that Farke is a better manager. Sorry but it's time Leeds fans to stop putting Bielsa on such a high pedestal.

Anon: It is a much better team on paper but just imagine what Bielsa would have done with this squad.

Anon: To Andy in Telford: You've got to be kidding. Ampadu (maybe), Summerville (if he had a football brain) and Gray (in time) are the only players good enough for the Prem.

I said Andy's message (21:34 GMT entry) might cause a debate and, maybe for the first time in a while, I was correct...

Ethan Ampadu's a bit fortunate there.

Although it's a foul, the referee wasn't going to stop it because Wednesday were in the ascendancy and that's worked out for Ampadu. If he wasn't already on a yellow, he'd get a yellow but the referee is thinking about if he wants to send someone off for that.

  17. YELLOW CARDpublished at 76 mins

    Sheff Wed 0-2 Leeds

The home side are starting to get into this now.

Ethan Ampadu is very touch fortunate not to get a second booking for a foul on Owls defender Bambo Diaby

Wednesday defender Akin Famewo IS then booked for a foul on Willy Gnonto.

    When it rains it pours.

    The home side finally threaten.

The Whites get themselves in a bit a mess at the back as Illan Meslier makes an unconvincing stop from a shot from range.

Michael Smith steams in to tap in the rebound but Leeds skipper Ethan Ampadu gets back to hack it off the line.

Leeds have had Wednesday chasing shadows for much of this half.

It'll be 11 wins from 12 matches this calendar year if they see this one over the line.

Three points tonight will move them to within two of leaders Leicester and put them one ahead of Ipswich.

The Foxes and Blues both play tomorrow of course.

Andy in Telford: Am I the only Leeds fan who thinks this team is better than the one Bielsa got us promoted with?

Dan: We've played four times in 10 days, which is just crazy. Let's not forget we took Chelsea's best 11 all the way with our B team. This is a proper Leeds team.

Andy could be starting a real debate there...
