Michael Smith's entrance means Wednesday now have two players up front.

As I said a few minutes ago they've carried no threat whatsoever this half.

They're going to have some task to get back into this now - Leeds haven't conceded two in one league game since Boxing Day.

It started really well for Sheffield Wednesday but it's crumbled after that first goal. Leeds are showing why they are on top of the league and the Owls have gone very scrappy now. They've created nothing in this second period.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl is booked for taking his protestations against a decision too far.

That gets the home fans in full voice.

And Danny Rohl DOES go to his bench.

Dominic Iorfa, Michael Smith and Will Vaulks are all on.

Can these changes help them turn this game around?

Ed in London: Belter of a save from Beadle there just about keeps Owls in this. That is a brilliant stop worth a goal.

Steve: Summerville is woefully out of form lately. Surely he needs to be rested. Joseph should be brought on immediately.

Anon: This could have been an awful week for us but we’ve proven what a great team we are and by far the best in the league. All credit to Farke! Finally the ghost of Bielsa is laid to rest.

Martin in Derby: I'm a Championship neutral: Leeds are a powerhouse this season and are going straight up. Ipswich still have to play Southampton and Norwich; they have no chance of finishing in the top two. Leeds might even win it.

    Sheff Wed 0-2 Leeds

Leeds are really coming down the hill now.

I don't think Wednesday have mounted any kind of attack this half.

The away side were getting on top before Patrick Bamford scored right on half-time but that goal has totally changed the complexion of this game.

Wednesday boss Danny Rohl is going to have to do something soon because, as it stands, you'd fancy the next goal in this to be another Leeds one.

    Absolutely outstanding - it's a fabulous save!

Summerville's done everything right but that save from James Beadle keeps Sheffield Wednesday in it.

Great save from James Beadle in the Owls goal to, just about, keep the home side in this.

The Whites carve the Owls open and the ball is worked on to Crysencio Summerville.

The Dutchman's low shot looks to be goalbound but the Brighton loanee makes a wonderful save to deny him.

The away side double their money!

Well, it's a LONG way back for Sheffield Wednesday now.

Illan Meslier launches a free-kick forward and Patrick Bamford does so well to knock it down for Georginio Rutter.

The Frenchman sweeps it straight into the run of Willy Gnonto and the Italy international finishes with aplomb.

    Leeds going second.

    Sheff Wed 0-1 Leeds

Wednesday had won their previous four matches coming into this but they've never really built up a head of steam in this one.

A draw will be enough to see them climb out of the relegation zone though and there's still plenty of time to go in this.

    Sheff Wed 0-1 Leeds

    Mark Smith
Former Owls defender on BBC Radio Sheffield

If you take away the goal, Wednesday edged that first half. They looked the better team.

I think they've got to be more inventive and take chances. It looks like Leeds are happy to take the ball in tight areas and it's not Sheffield Wednesday's game. It comes down to a slightly better class of footballer.

It's a lot messier now from Sheffield Wednesday and it's playing into Leeds' hands.

  12. Postpublished at 52 mins

    Sheff Wed 0-1 Leeds

Leeds forward Georginio Rutter is determined to have some say in this match.

I think he's had about six shots so far this evening.

He picks up the ball about 30 yards out on the half turn and cuts in to get an effort away with his left foot.

It's blocked by a couple of Wednesday defenders and Willy Gnonto, who had made a good run to his left, is not too pleased that the young Frenchman took the shot on that time.

  13. Postpublished at 48 mins

    Sheff Wed 0-1 Leeds

Leeds looking to pick up where they left off before the break and win the first corner of the half.

The home side stand up to Crysencio Summerville's initial corner but the away side keep the pressure on and Georginio Rutter draws another save from James Beadle in the home goal - with a well-hit shot at his near post.

Kelly Marie: I'm a Blade who was originally raised a Leeds fan, so obviously this current scoreline is great for me, it's like Christmas came early! C'MON YOU WHITES

David in Sheffield: The Championship is so much more exciting than the Premier League, who will have no product to sell soon as people don’t need it. The sooner the big six go off on their own way the better.

Anon: Why hasn't the referee blown for full time after four mins of extra time? The Leeds goal was scored 12 seconds after the half-time whistle should have been blown.

A reminder that it's always 'a minimum' of x minutes when the board goes up...

I dunno what Patrick Bamford got for Christmas (I haven't asked him directly to be fair) but he's been a different player since the turn of the year.

The Leeds striker had no goals for the season up to 1 January but his opening goal in this match is his eighth in 2024.

Mo in London: I have to say as a Liverpool fan, nothing quite beats the Championship. Great competition, smashing goals, endless drama and no VAR shenanigans. I haven't seen MOTD in 18 months!

Don't tell Gary..! Keep your thoughts coming in, using the methods above.

That's a goal out of nothing. I just expected Junior Firpo to turn back inside and keep possession like he has all evening but he doesn't, he opens up. It's a wonderful ball across the six-yard box.

Patrick Bamford is so sharp, so alive. It's a great finish from him but a wonderful assist from Firpo. I've called him out for the last 40 minutes but I've got to give him credit for that - that was a beautiful ball in.

I get accused of being too critical of Firpo but I say it as I see it. It was a beautiful ball but he can't forget his defensive duties. He is the weak link, Sheffield Wednesday haven't exploited that yet.

That goal was a real lifeline for Leeds but a gut-punch to Sheffield Wednesday.

    And that's the half!

Right, well, that Patrick Bamford goal has changed things somewhat.

The home side had the better of the opening exchanges and Leeds keeper Illan Meslier made a fine save to deny Anthony Musaba from close range.

The away side grew into it as the half wore on and Bamford got the goal they sought right on half-time.

Leeds going second as it stands and Wednesday, who have won their past four, will be staying in the relegation zone unless they can fight back.

    Right on time!

Leeds had been growing into this and now they have the goal they craved.

They keep the pressure on, Junior Firpo flashes a beauty of a cross across the face of goal from the left wing and Patrick Bamford steals in at the back stick to poke it in.

Leeds going second as it stands.
