Leeds are looking like they are going to show what they're all about here - but it's taken them over 40 minutes to do that. Sheffield Wednesday had stopped them from doing so.

Difficult opportunity but his movement was excellent and he might well think he ought to have tested the keeper.

Georginio Rutter is played in behind the Owls defence but, despite getting two bites at it, he can't make it count.

James Beadle does well to sprint off his line and get a hand on his initial lobbed attempt and a Wednesday defender scrambles back to stop his second effort reaching the goal.

This game seems to have flown by. It's been everything you expect from a derby game; it's scrappy, a bit stop-start. Not a wonderful advertisement for the Championship so far.

It's like a game of pinball at the moment.

This is Leeds' third game this week against a team fighting against relegation*.

They've only managed to score one in each of the first two, against Huddersfield and Stoke.

Will one be enough this evening?

*To be fair, half the league seems to be fighting relegation if you look how close things are in the lower half of the table!

The away side have had much more of the ball but it's the home side who have had the better of the territory with it.

The Owls break forward from a long goal-kick up the field but the low cross goes across the face of goal and Marvin Johnson can't get on the end of it.

Straight down the other end, Patrick Bamford looks to be in from a long ball but, perhaps thinking he's offside, he dwells on it and the chance goes.

Eesh, Junior Firpo has not started this game well for Leeds.

The left-back leaves Ethan Ampadu VERY short with a pass in his own half and the Owls win another corner as Ampadu deflects Anthony Musaba's shot behind.

Patrick Bamford heads this one clear but Leeds are inviting pressure just now.

On nights like this, where it's a big game for both clubs, I wonder how big that save from the Leeds keeper will be. It's a fantastic save - that's Illan Meslier at his very best.

Steve in Darlington: Fifteen mins in and I think, once again, Leeds are going to struggle against a bottom six club. They just don't seem capable of breaking down a defensive setup.

Thirteen minutes in and it's a little bit scrappy, but it goes back to the pitch. I don't think the pitch allows you to take the sting out the game; it's bouncing and bobbling.

Wednesday win the first corner of the evening but, rather oddly, choose to go short with it and make a bit of mess of it all told.

The only three goals Leeds have conceded in the league in 2024 have come from set-pieces.
