    Cardiff 0-0 Sunderland

    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at Cardiff City Stadium

Neither of these teams have much to play for between now and the end of the season, unless a remarkable chain of events propel them back into play-off contention.

You don't want to write a game off too early but this already has the feel of one of those late-season fixtures with very little riding on it.

  2. Postpublished at 15:10 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

    Huddersfield 0-0 Coventry

First sniff for the in-form Coventry striker Ellis Simms, who ex-Huddersfield man Kasey Palmer tries to pick out but just can't quite lock on to the former Everton forward.

Simms has 10 in eight games, and two hat-tricks to his name in that run.

    Terriers beware.

    Preston 0-0 Rotherham

    Sanny Rudravajhala
    BBC Radio 5 Live

I kid you not, as soon as the ref blew his whistle it has started hailing and it is biblical. The sound of ice smashing on to the roof has drowned all noise out in the stadium.

This is like something out of the Truman Show.

  4. CLOSE!published at 15:06 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

    QPR 0-0 Birmingham

It's the Blues who are the first to show at a sold out Loftus Road as Tyler Roberts curls an effort narrowly over Asmir Begovic's crossbar from just outside the penalty area.

  5. CLOSE!published at 15:03 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Swansea

Very early chance for the hosts at Hillsborough but Anthony Musaba has headed wide of target.

The Owls are seeking their first goal in three matches, remember. Swansea are aiming to stay clear of trouble.

  6. KICK-OFFpublished at 15:00 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

It's go time in eight other Championship matches now...

Every one of them will have ramifications at both ends of the table - aside from maybe Cardiff v Sunderland, but never say never!

  7. How can Rotherham be relegated today?published at 14:57 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

Yes, it might still be March but the Millers could go down this afternoon.

Here's how, courtesy of BBC Sport's Mark Mitchener...

    • If Rotherham lose AND QPR v Birmingham is not a draw AND Plymouth and Stoke both avoid defeat AND Huddersfield win
    • If Rotherham lose AND QPR draw with Birmingham AND Plymouth and Stoke both avoid defeat AND Huddersfield and Sheff Wed both win (because QPR play Sheff Wed on 6 April)
    • If Rotherham lose AND Birmingham beat QPR AND Stoke avoid defeat AND Huddersfield win (because Plymouth play QPR on 9 April)
    • If Rotherham lose AND QPR v Birmingham is not a draw AND Plymouth avoid defeat AND Huddersfield and Sheff Wed both win (because Sheff Wed play Stoke on 13 April)
    • If Rotherham lose AND Birmingham beat QPR AND Huddersfield and Sheff Wed both win (because as above, Plymouth are still to play QPR and Sheff Wed are still to play Stoke, thus guaranteeing that at least 21 clubs would finish on 42 or more points and be out of Rotherham's reach)

Still with me? Good. In short, Rotherham could do with something at Deepdale this afternoon.

  8. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

    Millwall 1-1 West Brom

It ends all square at the Den.

Millwall collect a crucial point in their fight to avoid relegation, while it is a handy come-from-behind result for a West Brom side looking to challenge for promotion this season.

Both will feel they could have got more, but everything counts now that we are at the business end of the campaign.

  9. North End hoping to end Millers hoodoopublished at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

    Preston v Rotherham (15:00 GMT)

This is the home banker of all home bankers on paper, but, should it be?

Rotherham are something of a bogey team for Preston, the Millers have taken 13 points from their last eight meetings and only lost once.

Three of the last four matches between the two at Deepdale have ended all-square, the other was a 2-1 win for Rotherham in February 2021.

Despite all that, the omens are not good for the Millers, even though they ended a nine-match losing streak with the stalemate against Huddersfield last time out.

They have won just one of their last 26 Championship games and could even find themselves relegated this evening if a number of results go against them.

  10. Owls seeking to drag Swans into dogfightpublished at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

Sheff Wed v Swansea (15:00 GMT)

In a league where six of the bottom seven teams are separated by just three points, Swansea’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday is an intriguing one.

Having won four straight games to haul themselves back into the pack, the second-bottom hosts are seeking to bounce back after losing their last two matches by an eye-watering aggregate score of 8-0.

If they can manage a win, it would be their first in six league games against the Swans and could jump them out of the drop-zone while leaving City themselves within four points of the relegation zone tonight, with just seven games remaining.

The omens are good, the Owls have won all three previous home league games played on Good Friday while the Swans have failed to win in five of their last six on this day.

Which side will be sitting more comfortably by tea time?

  11. QPR hoping to avoid a case of the Bluespublished at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

    QPR v Birmingham (15:00 GMT)

    Juninho BacunaImage source, Getty Images

QPR v Birmingham might very well be the game of the day in the Championship, you know. No sniggering at the back.

The Hoops start the day a point above the Blues, with a slightly better goal difference, but both sides are dangerously close to the drop zone.

Gary Rowett takes charge of Blues for the first time as interim boss, seeking to end a run of six games without a win.

QPR fans might need a boost too, they have failed to score in three league games against Birmingham and the Blues won 1-0 in West London last season.

Rangers have also won only one of their last seven Good Friday matches. Would a point be a good result today, keeping them ahead of their rivals, or would that open the door for Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield?

Do not take your eyes off this one.

  12. Bluebirds need bounce back, as Black Cats eye upturnpublished at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

    Cardiff v Sunderland (15:00 GMT)

    Sunderland playersImage source, Rex Features

It will have been a tough couple of weeks for Cardiff diehards, given their derby defeat by Swansea last time out, and Wales' Euro 2024 heartache.

Having to stew on that loss will have been painful, but the loss is equally as damaging when it comes to the pursuit of a play-off spot.

It's only eight points that separate them from Norwich in sixth, but it's such a concertina-esque squeeze up there, that they'll need plenty of results to fall their way and get points to achieve it.

Sunderland's season has tailed off spectacularly, not aided by injuries and a lack of prolific goalscorers to take the weight of pressure off the likes of Jack Clarke and Jobe Bellingham.

Mike Dodds has again stepped up to take the reins after the departure of Michael Beale. He doesn't want the campaign to slip away as it threatens to right now.

  13. Two teams, two different ambitionspublished at 14:42 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

    Huddersfield v Coventry (15:00 GMT)

    Huddersfield warm-upImage source, Rex Features

You won't hear Coventry boss Mark Robins moaning about fixture congestion. Not when he's got an FA Cup semi-final to look forward to on top of their push for a desired Championship play-off spot.

Robins would love this season to keep rolling and rolling, particularly when he's got Ellis Simms firing after a quiet start to rack up 10 goals in eight games.

They've won three on the spin, including that euphoric extra-time FA Cup victory over top flight Wolves.

Huddersfield need games to keep coming too, so long as there are precious points contained within them.

Andre Breitenreiter's Terriers are without a win in four and in the relegation zone, albeit on goal difference. Results are vital.

  14. Norwich eye seventh straight home winpublished at 14:38 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

    Norwich v Plymouth (15:00 GMT)

    Plymouth warm-upImage source, Rex Features

Norwich have given home fans plenty to be chirpy about at Carrow Road in recent monhts.

They have won six on the spin on home turf to leap into the play-off places.

Making it seven today will boost their promotion hopes, and could add Plymouth's sinking feeling.

The Pilgrims have won just one of their past nine Championship games and are only two points and four places above the drop zone.

  15. Can Hull put end to run of draws?published at 14:36 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

    Hull v Stoke (15:00 GMT)

    Liam RoseniorImage source, Rex Features

Play-off chasing Hull City will be looking to get back to winning ways against lowly Stoke this afternoon.

A run of four successive draws has seen the Tigers slip out of the top six.

Steven Schumacher's Stoke, meanwhile, will be looking for back-to-back wins of the road for the first time this season.

While beaten by Norwich at home before the international break, they overcame Preston at Deepdale before that.

  16. Boro hope to join Saints in promotion mixpublished at 14:33 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

    Southampton v Middlesbrough (15:00 GMT)

    St Mary'sImage source, Rex Features

Southampton's pursuit of a Premier League return remains on but they have slipped away from the automatic promotion tussle after a run of losses in February.

Russell Martin's Saints have won their past two games and are well in the mix for the play-offs, and their opponents today would love to join them.

Michael Carrick's Middlesbrough have won three of the past four unbeaten and remain in the scrap for the top six albeit they're in a queue you'd normally see for the release of new Air Max (other trainers are available).

Goals from top-scorer Emmanuel Latte Lath have been the catalyst of late, and he'll be crucial this afternoon, given Southampton's weight of scoring talent.

So there we are. All done at Ashton Gate, still going at the Den.

Let's crack on with the 15:00 GMT kick-offs between now and those whistles shrilling around the grounds.

It's not terminal by any means in terms of Leicester's automatic promotion hopes, but it is a blow given how ominous their rivals' form has been.

Leeds, Ipswich and Southampton will all be licking their lips, the Foxes are looking slightly vulnerable now and the onus is on to take full advantage.

Could be unseated from the top two for the first time since the early months of the season? Quite possibly.

Southampton's two games in hand could either be a major boost or a millstone, depending how they go.

West Brom still in action by the way.

  20. PENALTY: West Brompublished at 14:26 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

    Millwall 1-0 West Brom

The visitors have a chance to level from the spot after Grady Diangana is fouled in the box.

John Swift will step up to take the penalty...
