Turns out that Good Friday football isn’t really good for all.

Blackburn certainly haven’t enjoyed much good in recent years, having lost their past three league games that have fallen on this bank holiday.

Ipswich, on the other hand, tend to make good. They have won nine of their past 13 league games on Good Friday – including each of their past two.

Both sides are just feeling there way into this game in the early minutes.

What a game, what an opportunity.

I'm sure that Blackburn manager John Eustace will have had a brief look at the table beforehand.

Ipswich have got something to go for. They want to be promoted and they have got some massive games ahead of them.

Two games in four days has the potential to be defining.

Championship clubs are back from their break today, of course, but can Blackburn catch a break?

The Lancashire side remain winless under John Eustace, having drawn seven and lost two since he took the helm at Ewood Park.

They have been sucked into the relegation scrap at the bottom of the table and now come up against a side that is flying at the other end.

Ipswich have won seven of their past eight league fixtures and will move top of the table - at least momentarily - if they win.

Right, quite a lot to digest there - but we're far from done yet.

The late show is Watford v Leeds, who remain top for now after Leicester fluffed their lines earlier.

But first we have Ipswich's trip to struggling Blackburn, where a win would see the Tractor Boys go top - for a couple hours at least...

The big winners at the 'wrong' end of the table are QPR, who win a big 'six-pointer' against fellow strugglers Birmingham thanks to Jimmy Dunne's worldie.

Stoke City also gave themselves a buffer with a win over Hull City, both goals towards the end of their game against the play-off hopefuls.

Rotherham's fate is all but sealed now after their crushing loss to Preston North End.

Above them, Plymouth are again sucked in to the mix-up after letting slip a lead to lose at Norwich.

Huddersfield slipped to defeat by promotion-hopefuls Coventry while Swansea's late equaliser against Sheffield Wednesday denied the Owls the chance to leapfrog the drop zone.

Blackburn will be hoping for a shock in the 17:30 kick-off against high-fliers Ipswich to give themselves a welcome buffer.

Still plenty of clubs who can be dragged into the scrap, with seven games to go.

  9. Promotion picture starts to come into focuspublished at 17:14 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

There aren't too many little arrows alongside the top-10, but don't be fooled, this could be a seismic day in the race for promotion to the Premier League.

Leicester's defeat in the early game and Middlesbrough's last-gasp leveller at Southampton will have given a huge boost to Ipswich and Leeds, who will seek to capitalise this evening (stick with us for both of those games.)

West Brom also lost ground at lunchtime and are now only three points ahead of Norwich who came from behind to beat Plymouth.

Coventry and Preston are hot on their heels after seeing off lowly Huddersfield and Rotherham respectively, but Hull slipped to ninth, six points off the final play-off spot, after a shock 2-0 home defeat to Stoke.

    Cardiff 0-2 Sunderland

Sunderland end a seven game winless run with an impressive victory over Cardiff, who had won their past three at home.

Adil Aouchiche and Jobe Bellingham did the damage in the first-half, quelling their hosts, and the visitors needed no further goals to deliver the points.

Relief for Mike Dodds, after a torrid spell. For Erol Bulut, not the response to a derby loss against Swansea in any way, shape or form.

    Preston 3-0 Rotherham

Rotherham avoid relegation despite defeat, for now, while Preston keep pace in the race for the play-offs.

The goals all came in the first half with Duane Holmes smashing the opener and Emil Riis firing in two low strikes in a matter of minutes to heap more woe on the Millers.

    FT: QPR 2-1 Birmingham

Three priceless points in QPR's own scrap against relegation.

Only Rotherham have a worse record away from home in the Championship than Birmingham.

Blues defeated for the 14th time on their travels.

  15. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:58 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

    QPR 2-1 Birmingham

Jimmy Dunne's goal has won it. This day might be spoken about for years.

Steve Cook cancelled-out Juninho Bacuna's classy opener within minutes and Dunne's blockbuster strike in stoppage time means it's seven without a win for Blues and a losing start for interim boss Gary Rowett.

One swing of that left peg has taken QPR up to 18th, four points clear of the relegation zone.

  16. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:58 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

    Huddersfield 1-3 Coventry

Coventry keep up their terrific run in league and cup with both promotion hopes and an FA Cup semi-final on the cards.

Ellis Simms scored twice in the first half to put the Sky Blues on course, and a late goal from Haji Wright made sure.

Huddersfield remain embroiled in the relegation places, despite a spell where they threatened and did score through Rhys Heaney.

    Still in trouble though.

A point apiece but Wednesday might feel it's two dropped. They remain second-bottom.

Bailey Cadamarteri prodded the Owls ahead just before the break but after the hosts had rattled the woodwork, and drawn a series of saves from Carl Rushworth, Jamal Lowe turned in a header from close range to snatch a point for the visitors to keep them on the fringes of the relegation scrap.

Second-half goals from Josh Laurent and Ki-Jana Hoever are enough to earn lowly Stoke City all three points at Hull.

And for the first time this season, the Potters have won back-to-back matches away from home.

Hull have had their run of draws ended, but certainly not the way they would have wanted.

    Southampton 1-1 Middlesbrough

Late equaliser for Emmanuel Latte Lath keeps faint Middlesbrough play-off hopes alive bit most importantly it denies Southampton a priceless win to keep pressure on the top three.

Adam Armstrong got the hosts up and running, but Che Adams was among the Saints who failed to convert further chances.

It ended up proving crucial, as Boro pinched a point late on.

  20. goal

GOAL: Huddersfield 1-3 Coventrypublished at 16:54 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

    Haji Wright (90+3 mins)

Coventry make sure of the points and it's Haji Wright who comes up with the late magic to seal it.

Milan van Ewijk wriggled across the edge of the box and fed Wright, who bought a yard with pace and then arrowed a shot beyond Lee Nicholls to seal it.
