Duncan Ferguson is well thought of in these parts, scoring 28 times in 77 appearances in tangerine.

But if his Inverness side take any points off Dundee United this afternoon, the Tannadice faithful will be cursing the big man's name.

Not to his face, obviously. They're not daft.

  2. Points needed for very different reasonspublished at 14:29 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March 2024

    Arbroath v Partick Thistle (15:00)

Arbroath and Partick Thistle lock horns here at Gayfield in a game which is huge for both sides, and for very different reasons.

The fixtures are running out for Arbroath who are eight points adrift at the foot of the Championship table.

They’ve won just two league games since the end of September last year – in fact they have conceded 17 goals in their last four matches.

It's alarming form, which they need to sort out as a matter of urgency – today would be a good time to start.

In terms of Partick Thistle – they are looking to build on a solid win over Morton last time out, one which ended their own eight-game winless run.

Despite their poor form of late, they still somehow find themselves third in the table, and very well placed for the promotion play-offs.

But it goes without saying, they can ill afford many more slip ups along the way, and to that end they will be hoping to take care of business at Gayfield today.

  3. Deflated City for Falkirkpublished at 14:26 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March 2024

    Falkirk v Edinburgh City (15:00)

Meanwhile, Falkirk's opponents Edinburgh City are already consigned to a return to the fourth-tier.

A 5-2 defeat at home to Alloa Athletic confirmed their relegation last weekend in a season of financial upheaval for the capital club.

They were handed a six-point deduction for failing to pay players and other debtors in January and have won just twice in 29 league outings.

    Tough times at Meadowbank.

Somehow, it's been five years since Falkirk were relegated to the third tier on the final day of the 2018/19 season.

What's followed is half a decade of hurt and frustration for a passionate fanbase, so there would be some poetry in wrapping up the League 1 title in front of their own this afternoon.

John McGlynn's side will be crowned champions with victory this afternoon, as long as Hamilton Accies fail to win at Cove Rangers.

    Is today the day?

What's the perfect remedy to a Scotland hammering hangover? Lower league fitba'.

We could have our first champions in the SPFL this season if things go right for Falkirk (more on that later), while Dundee United will be looking to get the jump on Raith Rovers and boost their own title ambitions.

We're live on Sportsound to keep you across all the action, and I'll be here doing my best not to get cramp in my fingers.

    Let's do it.
