I have to say Bayern Munich were very well organised defensively tonight. The midfield in front of them provided a good barrier for the back four, any second balls they snapped up, really made it hard for Arsenal to create any opportunities.

    A very well matched contest.

  3. 'Arsenal top for a reason'published at 22:22 British Summer Time 9 April

Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane, speaking to TNT Sports: "It was a tough game. Of course we are never happy when we don't win. You've seen it over the past couple of years, Arsenal have had a good go at trying to win the league and they are top of the league for a reason."

On his goal from the penalty spot: "It was one of them when I have done a bit of research of his games against Porto. it was nice to see him go early and make it easier for me."

  4. 'What a game'published at 22:20 British Summer Time 9 April

    Manchester City

Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol speaking to TNT Sports:

"What a game. First time for me to play here at this stadium, amazing atmosphere and we take the result and look forward to the game at home.

"Last season I faced them [Real Madrid] with RB Leipzig and this is a different team. I enjoyed playing, we knew it would be difficult but that's our quality to play with the ball and without it too."

On two deflected goals: "This is football. It happens. We need to be focussed after and try to come back in the game which we did. Good result in the end.

"Simple, control the ball. What we do the best and that's all. Try to keep the ball and be dangerous.

"Happy for my first goal for Man City. Especially against a great opponent. Happy. First touch was not that good but in the end I thought well I'm just going to hit it and see what happens.

"First we have Luton on Saturday so we need to focus on that first."

Referee has bottled that. The rule isn't subjective; Neuer comes for the ball, Saka gets it first and then he's fouled. Regardless of if Saka forces the contact or if there isn't any it's a foul because he's attempted to play the ball and hasn't. Atrocious decision.

    Stonewall penalty absolutely disgraceful decision.

    Stonewall penalty. Clear as day.

There are still Arsenal fans inside the Emirates as Harry Kane is interviewed on the side of the pitch by TNT Sports. Kane has to raise his voice to make himself heard.

"I think they have a soft respect for me," smiles Kane.

I think it was the correct call not to award a penalty in the end.

On first instinct you think it has to be given, but having looked at a replay it looks like Bukayo Saka has initiated the contact. Manuel Neuer puts the breaks on as he rushes out and Saka almost kicks him in the end.

A really good call from the referee under incredible pressure.

Saka 100% leaves his foot in. Crocodile tears.

    Matt, Kensington

Brilliant refereeing. Saka blatantly leaves his leg out to initiate the contact.

    Marc

What a stupid thing to do by Saka. Clean through, great chance, and he flails a leg out half injuring himself. Baffling.

  11. 'It looked like a penalty'published at 22:03 British Summer Time 9 April

    Arsenal

Arsenal goalscorer Leandro Trossard, speaking to TNT Sports: "It looked like a penalty to me, it looked like clear contact. We're not pleased but when you are 2-1 down at half-time you will take point at the end.

"We started so well. We could have scored two or three goals after taking the lead. You can see what kind of quality Bayern Munich have to hurt us.

"Luckily I helped the team with a goal so I am pleased with that. I always try to do whatever I can on the pitch. Hopefully I can help in the next few weeks. We have such a great team and we know it will be hard over there. If we play at our best level we can beat anyone."

Will Manchester City be the happier of the two sides this evening? The holders will be confident going into the second leg at the Etihad next week knowing they thrashed Real Madrid in the home leg of the semi-final last year.

You don't often see Bukayo Saka annoyed on the pitch but once he'd finished receiving treatment he went marching towards the referee to complain that he wasn't given a penalty.

Bukayo Saka is not happy at all. He's trying to get at the Swedish referee. Saka is convinced he should have had a penalty after going down after contact with Manuel Neuer. We're going to hear about that from both managers.

Am loving the CL action tonight: top goals, including a worldie from Foden. Anyone else getting excited for the Euros? Bellingham, Foden, Kane; even Palmer and Mainoo. Blessed up front this time; just need to sort out the England defence!

Of course to come here and get a draw is a good result, but if you do come here and score three goals, you'd think you ought to be winning the game.
