City have changed things around at the break, bringing Bernardo Silva central and putting Phil Foden out wide on the right.

Conceding another goal here would make the tie very difficult.

Nick: It's a shame we've reverted to 2017 Arsenal tonight.

Ian: Very unlike Arsenal performance atm. Defence is way too high, midfield is non existent! Havertz & Martinelli haven't had a touch. For 20mins Munich we're there for the taking, if white makes it 2 nil, game over.

No sign of panic from Arsenal and rightly so. This tie has such a long way to go.

A cross into the Bayern Munich box almost finds Gabriel Martinelli but the offside flag is up.

Reza: Raya, Saliba and Gabriel decided that tonight was the night they'd put in their worse performances of the season. Can't handle the pressure.

Arsenal have been so good defensively all season but two mistakes and they have been punished twice.

The first one was from David Raya, he came so far put to get involved in the play that he had an awkward pass into Jakub Kiwior and Bayern turned it over and went on to score.

Bayern have been good at that all evening, the two wide players in particular have been excellent and that is what has caught Arsenal out so far.

What an entertaining match this has been by two European heavyweight teams.

This is Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti's 200th Champions League match in the dugout and the Italian's record in Europe's top competition is not to be sniffed at. He has 113 wins under his belt.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola's record also makes for impressive reading. He is taking charge of his 168th Champions League match and has 109 wins to his name.

In the three seasons the two have faced each other in the knockout stages of the competition, Ancelotti’s sides have progressed on two of those occasions (2013-14 and 2021-22), but were eliminated in the semi-finals last season.

Real, Bayern and Man City only teams yet to lose a game in this year's Champions League... looks like we're losing one from that list tonight!

    Scott

Both games fantastic entertainment. Man City feeling the heat in Madrid, Arsenal reaching too far too soon, would probably be better going out after 2 legs and focusing on remaining Premier League games.

What an entertaining first half. Played at a terrific tempo throughout.

City started very well, clever from Bernardo Silva to catch out the goalkeeper from a set piece to give them the lead.

Since then they have played very well but they need a bit more in the one on ones. Something different, be brave and take someone on, too safe at the minute.

Madrid, well you know what you are going to get from them and that is exactly what we have seen.
