I know there are examples of thrilling periods of extra time but there have also been a number that have been quite drab.

A few years ago, the EFL ditched extra time in its main cup competition and just went straight to penalties.

I wonder if it would ever come in for European competition?

Pep Guardiola was pacing around his technical area liked a caged animal just before this second period of extra-time started.

His side need to regain the initiative because Real Madrid ended that first period on top.

Jude Bellingham was flexing his back just now and Dani Carvajal has got a bit of cramp.

There are some tired legs out there now.

This may sound daft. But I think the best chance for Man City to score the winner is on the counter attack against a very defensive and experienced Real Madrid !!

Real right-back Dani Carvajal goes down. Cramp? Looks like it. Two team-mates grab his feet and stretch his legs. Textbook cramp treatment. The physios come on too.

Is Jude Bellingham's antics in both these legs reflecting well on him? I hope he doesn't behave like this in an England shirt. Petulance and moaning are not what we'll need when things aren't going our way. Embarrassing behaviour.

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane speaking to TNT Sports: "Yeah an unbelievable win. It's been a tough season for us. We've had to fight and grind it out at times. We knew we could make the difference with our fans at home. It was a tough game, a tight game. It was a great goal from Josh [Kimmich]. To reach the semi-finals is a great achievement for us and we can enjoy it.

"I think in these types of games the first half is always a bit cagey. We said at half-time we wanted to up the tempo, be aggressive. We had a couple off the post and could have made it easier for ourselves but these games are always tough and you just have to get through them.

"The expectation here is to try and win the Champions League. We won the league for 11 years in a row so maybe there was a bit of tempo missing. That can't happen. Now we have to enjoy the Champions League and try to get ready for Saturday."
