    Bayern v Arsenal (agg: 2-2, 20:00 BST)

Arsenal have never won a Champions League away match from the quarter-final stage onwards, drawing four and losing four.

The Gunners have progressed from this stage twice though - beating Juventus 2-0 on aggregate in 2006 and Villarreal 4-1 on aggregate in 2009.

This is Mikel Arteta's second European quarter-final as a manager after leading Arsenal to a 5-1 aggregate win over Slavia Prague in the Europa League in 2021.

  2. Will Bayern progress this time?published at 19:08 British Summer Time 17 April 2024

    Bayern v Arsenal (agg: 2-2, 20:00 BST)

    Fourth time lucky?

Bayern have lost their Champions League quarter-final in each of the past three seasons.

They went out on away goals against Paris St-Germain in 2020-21, before losing to Villarreal and Manchester City.

Only Paris St-Germain, between 2012-13 to 2015-16, have been eliminated from the quarter-finals in four successive seasons.

Bayern Munich have progressed from two of the three European knockout ties in which they have recorded a 2-2 away draw in the first leg.

Real Madrid are the only team Bayern have eliminated from more European knockout ties (five).

Andrew: Harry Kane could knock Arsenal out of Europe tonight, a result at the same time that would almost certainly mean that his beloved Tottenham won’t get a Champions League spot for finishing 5th in the Premier League.

Rahka: Tottenham have no choice other than to support Arsenal tonight.

You won't find a single (true) Spurs fan wanting Arsenal to win tonight. No matter if it helps with the co-efficient. Come on Bayern!

As a Tottenham fan I am definitely not supporting Arsenal nor West Ham - just want a great City v Real match!

Kevin de Bruyne is also included ahead of Mateo Kovacic after missing last week’s first leg in Madrid because of illness.

Among them are former City youngster Brahim Diaz and veteran Croatia midfielder Luka Modric.

  10. Could Man City win a double Treble?published at 18:52 British Summer Time 17 April 2024

Man City v Real Madrid (agg: 3-3, 20:00 BST)

Manchester City are aiming for an unprecedented second Treble in a row.

City are in the Champions League quarter-finals, face Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday and are top of the Premier League.

Win 12 more games and it's another Treble.

City midfielder Bernardo Silva said: "We know what we have already achieved and we want to create a legacy.

"We want to win the Premier League because that will be six in seven years. We want four Premier Leagues in a row. We want the Champions League twice in a row and two trebles in a row.

"But, in one week, we could be out of all the competitions, so we are fighting and we are going to do everything in our power to get a step closer to that goal."

If City beat Madrid tonight, the Champions League is theirs to lose. Whoever wins between them will go on to win the final. I don’t see any other team winning it, even after last night’s games.

Well over an hour to kick-off and the build up inside the Etihad Stadium is already ramping up.

There are two great matches tonight but, in TV terms, one is bigger than the other.

Real Madrid attract attention like few others clubs on the planet can manage and when you pair them with Manchester City, it produces a 90 minutes (or 120) to relish.

With the Uefa coefficient in mind, we want to know are fans of other Premier League teams supporting the English clubs tonight?

Tottenham's hopes of qualifying for the Champions League would be boosted by an Arsenal win. Can Spurs fans bring themselves to cheer on their rivals?

Let us know using the above options.

  14. Big night for the extra CL spot?published at 18:42 British Summer Time 17 April 2024

If Manchester City and Arsenal were to go out tonight, the Premier League's hopes of having a fifth Champions League spot next season would be in tatters.

Until last week Opta gave England an 82% chance of getting the extra spot - which is based on results in European competition this season - but that dropped to 57.8% after poor results for most of the Premier League teams.

And since then Borussia Dortmund have knocked out Atletico Madrid, with Germany the main rival for that extra spot.

That makes Bayern v Arsenal and, tomorrow, West Ham v Bayer Leverkusen especially important.

  15. What happened last night?published at 18:39 British Summer Time 17 April 2024

In case you missed any of the action last night because, let's say, hypothetically, you were desperately trying to get updates of Oxford's League One match with Lincoln, then let us tell you they were two classic ties.

PSG came from 1-0 down, 4-2 down on aggregate, to beat Barcelona 4-1 away on the night, 6-4 overall.

That game hinged on Ronald Araujo's first-half red card for Barca, who lost their heads somewhat. Kylian Mbappe scored twice for PSG.

Borussia Dortmund were 20 minutes from elimination but beat Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid 5-2 on aggregate (4-2 on the night).

PSG play Dortmund in the semi-final.

  16. 'Opportunity to write different story'published at 18:36 British Summer Time 17 April 2024

    Bayern v Arsenal (agg: 2-2, 20:00 BST)

Arsenal and Bayern Munich drew the first leg 2-2 in London last Tuesday meaning this tie remains in the balance.

The Gunners are hoping to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time in 15 years.

Bayern last reached the semis when they won the competition in 2020.

"The opportunity is there to write our story differently," said Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.

"It is about putting in a strong performance to have the right to be in the semi-final."

  17. 'We'd have lost 4-1 or 5-1'published at 18:33 British Summer Time 17 April 2024

Man City v Real Madrid (agg: 3-3, 20:00 BST)

The first leg of this was a classic.

City led 1-0 after two minutes, trailed 2-1 after 14 minutes, led 3-2 after 71 minutes and drew 3-3.

"We were 2-1 down, playing here without much composure," boss Pep Guardiola said afterwards.

"This game, in the first three seasons together, we'd have lost 4-1 or 5-1 as we were not stable emotionally."
