Manchester United are controlling long stretches of this game without being able to get a clear sight of the Coventry goal.

Having Casemiro at the back goes given them more control in possession but so far Coventry are staying in position and no-one has been able to produce that bit of skill to get into space.

The TV people have just panned to United's new technical director Jason Wilcox sat next to former chief executive David Gill in the Royal Box.

End to end but both sides lose the ball and then Joel Latibeaudiere body checks Rasmus Hojlund to stop a United move.

Latibeaudiere says something to Hojlund as the pair wait for the free-kick to be taken.

Haji Wright tries a one-man counter-attack for Coventry but Diogo Dalot wins the ball off him in the centre circle. If Dalot hadn't succeeded Wright could have been in there.

Jake Bidwell's corner is headed away by "centre-back" Casemiro.

Good pace by Aaron Wan-Bissaka to stop Coventry's Milan van Ewijk getting onto a return ball out right but he concedes a corner.

It has been a good start between both sides, but Man Utd look good going forward down the left-hand-side.

Coventry clear the ball all the way to Andre Onana. The United keeper wanders towards the centre circle and sprays a ball forward.

Bruno Fernandes heads it down to Alejandro Garnacho, who fails to make proper contact with a half-volley and it goes wide. Proper chance.

Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot just had to ask Erik ten Hag for some guidance.

Coventry's Jake Bidwell on the touchline by the halfway line when his side were taking a goal-kick, with Liam Kitching also by the touchline about 10 yards in front of the penalty area.

Dalot was intending to split them but knew he was vulnerable to a ball over the top.

Ten Hag told him to drop back.

Bobby Thomas puts Alejandro Garnacho's cross behind and United have a corner.

Jaap Stam is at the game today. United might need him if Harry Maguire gets injured.

Harry Maguire, the only fit centre-back Manchester United have, comes out to the left to slide in on Milan van Ewijk and get the ball out for a throw-in.

Van Ewijk takes a long throw but United get it away.
