Coventry City boss Mark Robins says he will not be fooled by reports of FA Cup opponents Manchester United's demise heading into this game.

"I hear people talking about Manchester United, they are this, they are that - the truth of it is they've got top, top players," Robins told BBC Radio CWR.

"People in football, pundits, talk in a derisory way about Manchester United - realistically, they can hurt anybody on their day.

"The 2-2 draw against Liverpool the other week, the goals were outstanding, the counter-attack is scintillating at times.

"You've got a lot of things to consider, especially as a Championship club, coming up against the biggest club in the world."

Both of these sides reached this stage following quarter-final thrillers.

Coventry City beat Oxford 6-2 in the third round, Sheffield Wednesday 4-1 in a replay, non-league Maidstone 5-0 in round five and Wolves 3-2 in the quarter-final.

They were 2-1 down to Wolves in the seventh minute of injury time before two late, late, late goals took them to Wembley.

Manchester United have seen off Wigan, Newport, Nottingham Forest and then Liverpool in a 4-3 epic.

They trailed with three minutes to go, were behind in extra time and needed a 121st-minute goal to win it.

Coventry v Man Utd (15:30 BST)

The winners of this tie will play holders Manchester City in the final.

Bernardo Silva scored a late winner as the holders, who beat Manchester United in last year's final, beat Chelsea 1-0 at Wembley yesterday.

A United win today would make it a second consecutive Manchester derby final.

Coventry fans have definitely brought the noise to Wembley.

There is pure excitement among their 36,000 fan base and the Sky Blues fan park, a stone's throw from the national stadium, was bouncing late morning.

There's a carnival atmosphere outside with thousands of fans mingling together.

But who will still be smiling at full-time?

    Alan Shearer
Former England and Newcastle striker on Saturday's BBC One coverage

Thorough deserved [for Coventry] after their quarter-final and what they did and how they did it. They should just go out and enjoy it as much as possible and not put pressure on themselves at all.

The pressure is all on Manchester United. Like most Man Utd fans I don’t have a clue what their performance is going to be like. You don’t know what they’re going to produce because they're so unpredictable.

  7. Coventry run is 'nice throwback'published at 14:20 British Summer Time 21 April

    Frank Lampard
Chelsea legend on Saturday's BBC One coverage

It’s a nice throwback. It doesn’t happen much in the modern era where a team like Coventry, fully deservedly, get to the semi-finals.

If Manchester United turn up, they should turn up, with the level and quality of players they have they should win their game. You never know what you’re going to get [with United].

  8. Ten Hag not concerned by external noisepublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 21 April

Manchester United have not won a game since beating Liverpool in a thrilling FA Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford.

Conceding late goals at Brentford and Chelsea, plus in the league game against Liverpool a fortnight ago has effectively wrecked their hopes of securing Champions League football next season.

With Sir Jim Ratcliffe, once he gets to Wembley after his London Marathon exploits, joined in the Royal Box today by fellow co-owners Joel and Avram Glazer, there is a feeling a defeat today would make it impossible for manager Erik ten Hag to remain in his job next season.

Ten Hag is not listening to all the talk.

He is more interested in United's lengthy injury list.

"I don’t have any concern about what is said on the outside," he said.

"What concerns me is that in 18 months I have never had my favourite team on the pitch. That concerns me because the players are injured.

"One time (I could pick my strongest XI) was against City last season in the home game. That was the only time where we had a full squad.

"I know when we have so many injuries in crucial positions, you can’t deliver the results you want.

"That is my truth. Others can have a different truth. But I can’t put energy in that."

    I know what you're wondering. I know. I know.

"What does former Malta striker Michael Mifsud think the score is going to be?"

Luckily BBC CWR asked the 42-year-old former Coventry player just that.

"Why not. History can repeat itself especially with the moment Manchester United are passing through," he said.

"I really hope, I'll be there watching with the fans. I played at Wembley with the national team. It's a stadium everyone wants to play in.

"I've always been a believer that the game is 90 minutes no matter who you play against. If Coventry go out and follow the plan - I'm sure Mark Robins has a very good plan - and everyone does their job, football is football.

"No matter who you're playing against you can always get a result. My gut feeling is Coventry will win the game."

Mifsud is part of the commentary team for BBC Coventry & Warwickshire today.

  10. Would defeat spell end for Ten Hag?published at 14:14 British Summer Time 21 April

Coventry v Man Utd (15:30 BST)

Manchester United have endured an eventful season on and off the pitch, with an early European exit and underwhelming Premier League campaign.

Combine their form with the arrival of Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos as co-owners, and where does it leave the future of manager Erik ten Hag?

Former Premier League midfielder Michael Brown tells The Football News Show why United need a "fresh start", while The Athletic's Carl Anka suggests the new owners have other priorities, regardless of the result against Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-final.

One of the most iconic images in Coventry's 141-year history is Keith Houchen running behind the Tottenham net with one arm in the air to celebrate making it 2-2 in front of 98,000 fans in the 1987 FA Cup final.

Not far behind Houchen is a jubilant Micky Gynn with both arms raised in the air.

Coventry won 3-2 on their greatest ever day at Wembley.

"I keep watching the highlights hoping one day I finally score because I had a great chance to make it 4-2 in extra time," Gynn told me when we spoke a couple of weeks ago.

The former midfielder still has his number eight cup final shirt from 16 May 1987 hanging in his wardrobe at home. "I've not worn it for 37 years but I do like to look at it from time to time."

Since retiring from playing, Gynn, 62, has worked for the Royal Mail.

"At one stage I was delivering letters and parcels to Coventry's training ground. It was strange because that was my place of work for 10 years," he added.

"Now I'm on a different patch. You're out in the fresh air meeting lots of nice people.

"I've got 36 dogs on my round. I always make sure I have loads of dog biscuits to keep me on the safe side."

For those who haven’t heard Manchester United were all spotted getting on the train to Wembley yesterday and there was no Mason Mount, no Sofyan Amrabat and no Willy Kwambala.

Without Kwambala they have five central defenders out missing for this match.

On the bench we will have names like Omari Forson, Harry Amass, Habeeb Ogunneye, Ethan Wheatley and Louis Jackson.

However, when the team-sheet comes out and you match them up against the Coventry players you will say Man Utd have better players in every position.

    And another one.

A Coventry City fan from Argentina is flying over for the FA Cup semi-final this weekend, after his love for the club made him a local celebrity.

Lauti Murguia caught the attention of Sky Blues players and fans during a trip to the UK last year, after a photo of him buying a club shirt was shared online.

He went on to meet midfielder Kasey Palmer, while the singer Tom Grennan offered to fly him to a match.

Mr Murguia, 23, is now due to cross the Atlantic again to go to Coventry City’s game against Manchester United at Wembley on Sunday.

“I’m not doing this to [go] viral. I’m doing this because I love Coventry,” he said.

We have a potential cracker on our hands today in the second FA Cup semi-final.

Championship side Coventry, winners back in 1987, are the surprise participants of the last four - and come up against dysfunctional giants Manchester United.

United's hopes of a trophy, maybe Europe next season, and maybe boss Erik ten Hag's job could rest on this game.

Welcome to live text and radio commentary from Wembley.
