The dark clouds have cleared and the sun was shining over Goodison Park earlier as Everton host city rivals Liverpool in the 244th Merseyside derby.

It has been another tumultuous season for the Toffees but avoiding defeat this evening will go a long way to maintaining their Premier League status for another year and deliver a huge blow on the Reds' title hopes.

But Sean Dyche has selection issues to deal with, deciding whether to play Ashley Young or Ben Godfrey at right-back and with striker Beto out and Dominic Calvert-Lewin a doubt, youngster Youssef Chermiti may get a start up front.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp's side impressed in the victory at Fulham on Sunday, with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Alexis Mac Allister and Darwin Nunez named on the bench, so it will be intriguing to see whether he keeps faith with the second string or bring back the big guns.

There has been a lot of debate around the merits - or otherwise - of Manchester United's FA Cup semi-final win over Coventry on Sunday.

Manager Erik ten Hag addresses the United fans directly in his programme notes tonight.

"This season has thrown a lot of challenges at us, whether during games or with the number of injuries we have had to deal with," he says. "But we have to be able to deal with setbacks.

"If you are comfortably in control of a game, managing it well and then the opposition scores from nowhere, you have to be able to keep calm and continue doing what you were doing before.

"We failed to do that during the last part of Sunday's game and we cannot make excuses for it."
