Liverpool have dominated possession in the early stages.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been rolling inside and West Ham need to deal with Liverpool's midfield overload.

He enjoyed a good chat and embrace with David Moyes before kick-off.

Klopp certainly looks more upbeat than he did on Wednesday.

I hope West Ham United fans get their wish and Moyes leaves at the end of the season. And then next season they get relegated playing the lovely football they crave. This is the most successful West Ham team I have seen in 40 years, and they won a European competition........but David Moyes is out of his depth apparently.

    Kieran, Brisbane

Bruce, did you honestly think that West Ham should have or could have finished higher than 8th on the table? Moyes has done a great job.

Reading all the negative comments from (presumably) Hammers fans, I thought I'd check where they are in the table. Turns out they're 8th. Erm... Sorry, what exactly is the problem here again?!

    Joe

West Ham fans are ridiculous. Click the tables tab above and justify in what world West Ham should expect to finish ahead of any of those teams above them. Winners and final stages in Europe too. No manager would achieve more

    Dan, MK

West Ham fans ought to be careful what they wish for..I remember Charlton fans hounding Alan Curbishley out of Charlton Athletic years ago because they couldn't break into top flight's top 4/5 and look at where they are now. Moyes has done an outstanding job for a club the size of West Ham.

"Over the years we have been good at it so we have to be good at it today."

Even if Liverpool win, I cannot see Manchester City and Arsenal opening the door wide enough to let them back in. The fact Liverpool are the third of three in terms of goal difference, that's an issue as well.

Arne Slot is a man that carries a lot of similarities with Jurgen Klopp. Maybe that is music to the ears of some Liverpool fans already.

Jurgen started at Mainz before going on to Dortmund, Arne started at Cambuur, then went on to do really well at AZ Alkmaar, could have won the league with them during COVID tieing top with Ajax at the time.

Then he went to Feyenoord, the biggest club Netherlands next to Ajax, and got to a European final in his first season, won the Championship in his second season, and only last Sunday he won the Dutch cup.

He created great football here and he is also very popular here because of his personality.

Arne Slot is a very charismatic manager, one of the most charismatic I have met in years.

He is very universal, he is a great communicator - he coaches and speaks to his players in English, and wants that spoken in the dressing room.

He likes to have a good rapport with the media, his press conferences are brilliant with the way he explains things. With the fans he is hugely popular, not only because of his football but he is a very open minded guy - there is so much to look forward to.

Ben: The title race is now a two-horse race. Yet again Liverpool promise, yet again they fall away. Jurgen Klopp said he no longer has the energy to do the job - clearly neither do the players. A big clear out in summer is needed starting with Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo. It may be the end for Mo Salah as well. New defenders will also be needed. One win in four is not acceptable.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to TNT Sports: "We have to show it on the pitch.

"Your motivation is to win the game you play and not think about anything else.

"Against a strong side, you can see the attacking threat of West Ham is a big one.

"We need to not get carried away, we need to be intense from the start and step-by-step we can get a real foot in the game and win it - it will be difficult.

"The only way you can change is by taking your chances.

"We have to play the football game, it is not that difficult the boys are brilliant and that is why we have the amount of points we have."

West Ham: Cesc Fabregas struggles to understand fan criticism of David Moyes

I have a couple of friends that are big, big West Ham supporters and sometimes I ask the question, 'Why do you guys attack David Moyes so much when he's getting the right results?'.

Last year they won a European cup, they were fighting for Europe up until not long ago and having good results.

Someone else will come and will start playing very good football but they will not win games and then they will be complaining at the other thing.

He [Moyes] has been successful… I respect [him] a lot for what he's done in football and for the man that I know he is.

    On the Merseyside derby...

When it is a game of that size and it is against your local rivals you know what it means for your supporters.

You have to go in and fight, Everton didn't let Liverpool play they got stuck in.

    Liverpool didn't turn up.

West Ham v Liverpool (12:30 BST)

    Paul Robinson
Former England goalkeeper on The Friday Football Social

Mohamed Salah's future has been up in the air for a long time. He is coming into the last 12 months of his contract and there is talk of £100m...if you don't sell him this summer, that type of business is going to go away from Liverpool.

You are not going to get that type of money for a player entering the last year of their contract. So, you would question if Salah would go and that gives the new manager coming in an opportunity to invest that amount back into the side.

Liverpool have a history of cashing in on players at the right time. Look at Fernando Torres, look at Luis Suarez, look at Philippe Coutinho.
