That image of two waving German drivers seems the ideal place to call it a day tonight.

It will be an interesting battle between Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton tomorrow - and don't rule out an intervention from a Ferrari.

I would heartily advise having a read of Andrew Benson's report from qualifying.

Make sure you join us from 14:30 GMT tomorrow, when we'll start building up to the race, which begins at 16:00 GMT.

Sebastain Vettel speaks to the media after claiming third on the grid: "I think we improved the car which is the most important thing. There were lots of people sliding yesterday with these tyres so it could be interesting. I hope to put some pressure on the Mercedes and then go for it."

  4. Notes on the gridpublished at 17:45

So we already know that Valtteri Bottas has a three-place grid penalty and Daniel Ricciardo has a 10-place penalty.

That means it is a Ferrari second row - with Sebastian Vettel third and Kimi Raikkonen moving up to fourth.

Bottas shifting to seventh means he will line up next to his Williams team-mate Felipe Massa.

There could still be a punishment for Felipe Nasr, currently in P11, who obstructed Massa in qualifying.

  6. 'A win would be special'published at 17:40

More from Lewis Hamilton: "Considering how the week has gone, I am pretty happy with how that went. Q1 and Q2 wre very good and to better that is very fine margins, I clawed back as much as I could. It should be an exciting race tomorrrow. It was a dream to come here and race and I really felt Ayrton Senna's presence when I came to race here the first time. To win in front of the Brazil fans would be special."

  7. 'I didn't maximise the first sector'published at 17:36

Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton: “It was good today. I got a good balance. At the end I didn’t maximise the first sector but the other two sectors were OK.

“It is a circuit I haven’t won at. Last year I was stronger in the race and I hope to carry that through and hopefully make the difference.”

  8. 'Close to the edge'published at 17:33

Nico Rosberg tells the media after clinching pole: “Of course I'm pleased with today. I got some good laps in qualification three and the last lap was very close to the edge."

An eventful session for McLaren's Fernando Alonso, who went out in Q1 after a car failure. He relaxed in a picnic chair while waiting for the recovery vehicle and then shared a joke with team-mate Jenson Button by sneaking on to the podium.

McLaren's Fernando Alonso: "It was not the Saturday I was hoping for. But in Abu Dhabi I will have to be better prepared and bring the sun tan lotion.

"When we passed the podium, me and Jenson thought we are not going to get as close again and so took a picture. It is tough, but that is what it is."

Manor's Will Stevens: "What I have learned this year is that I have focused too much on qualifying and not looked at the longer game and the race. This track is very hard on the rears and hopefully the way we have worked will pay off tomorrow."

It's worth noting that Nico Rosberg persuaded his team to let him come into the pits in Q2. They wanted him to stay out.

Nico was aiming to save the tyres - and it was a great tactic.

"I think Nico Rosberg can win this and carry the roll on from Mexico. Lewis Hamilton wants to win here to emulate his idol Ayrton Senna. It is going to be a fascinating race."

Toro Rosso's Max Verstappen: "It is a tricky track to learn and I underestimated it a bit. We lose a lot on the straights here. I was not happy with the car yesterday and it should be better tomorrow."

    Ricciardo

Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo: "It was not worth it to have the new engine. I'll have a look at the overlay later, but from what I saw today it was not that much of an advantage. We did what we could. But starting 19th it is going to be a fun race later. I hope it will rain. I don't think it will."

    Leaderboard

There will be some movement in this top 10, with Valtteri Bottas dropping three places for overtaking under a red flag in Q1. And Daniel Ricciardo loses a whopping 10 places because of a new engine.

"It wasn't worth it," Ricciardo says when asked about the engine change.

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff: "It was an immense lap from Nico, he is on fire. It is important for him to finish second in the championship and maybe there is some of the pressure gone for Lewis which might not be a good thing. It was a very intelligent session from Nico - the way that he saved his tyres in Q2.

"Ferrari are not far off, but I am sceptic for them for next year."

Thumbs up for Nico Rosberg, who has been formidable in qualifying as of late. Can he convert to make it back-to-back wins?

"It looks like Lewis Hamilton has not been able to ace that first sector. Turn Two is where Nico Rosberg has been very aggressive and has managed to get that edge over his team-mate."
