Apologies to anyone tweeting us with their favourite colour combos on cars. We've sort of got sidetracked by the memory of the Mastercard Lola.

I'm not sure but, between us, we may have created a meme.

And I think that makes us all legends.

Wait... is that.. is it...? Fun House!?

Here's some quotes from Honda regarding the news that Yusuke Hasegawa will succeed Yasuhisa Arai as the head of their Formula 1 programme ahead of the new season.

Dog + car = internet winner.

This is why Lewis is paid the big bucks.

I'm thinking the Mercedes is so strong, though, that Roscoe could maybe have a tilt at the drivers' championship.

Confirmation that Sergio Perez wasn't on the ultra-softs for that quick run.

“Red Bull, it seemed, spent much of last year giving engine partner Renault a right slagging. Now they are with them for at least another year, however - albeit with the engine badged as a Tag Heuer - they were a lot more positive.

"Chief technical officer Adrian Newey - who said he was ‘not allowed to refer to who makes the power-unit nowadays’ - said Renault was ‘on a good course now. They have had a good winter. It is a big deficit to make up but they are on a good path and I have confidence they will slowly close the gap."

As for Nico Rosberg, he continues to chalk off the laps. He's up to 87 now.

Surely he wants to do more than Lewis Hamilton's 156 from yesterday? Even if it doesn't matter whatsoever.

That's tidy from Sergio Perez and it puts him in third above Nico Rosberg.

Ah, now we're getting into 'What bar?' territory.

That's an obscure reference for all fans of the popular wrestling podcast OSW review.

Well, the Mastercard Lola looks like a Zoom ice lolly.

So we have a break in play, as it were, as Jolyon Palmer enjoys his first taste of being stranded on a race track.

It's a very British tradition that Jenson Button has upheld superbly in recent years.

So, for the last time, could you all stop sending us pictures of things that look like the one-race wonder Mastercard Lola please?

    So nothing more like this...

    And definitely none of this...

    And this is just disrespectful...

All that Haas chat and they've gone shy on us.

The F1 social media guys have posted a video of Esteban Gutierrez's Haas being forlornly wheeled backwards into the garage.

You have to click the link, but it's worth a look (come back though, please!).

Plenty of you chatting about the impact these new ultra-soft purple tyres are having.

As far as I'm aware, only Sebastian Vettel's Ferrari and Daniel Ricciardo's Red Bull have been round on them, which is why they're out in front.

Are those tyres alone enough to inflict such low times? Probably not, but this is only testing remember - and the first rule of testing is to never read too much into testing.

(The second rule of testing is to take your shoes off at the door because I've just Hoovered).

F1 journalist Dan Knutson in Barcelona: "Gene Haas, the owner of Haas F1, spoke to the media during the lunch break.

“'We have a great engine and transmission, and the chassis is good,' he said of the Haas VF-16.

“'The only thing that has not really exercised so far is the crew. That is what we are doing this week – getting the crew to understand how the car goes together and all these various parts. They have to change the engine out probably half a dozen times, so there will be a good learning experience there'.

“'The car’s characteristics are very neutral. It has good aero, it is balanced on both ends. It is very neutral going through the turns. It doesn’t snap or do anything strange. So far it looks good. But we have to go faster and faster to maybe find where the limits of the car are."

    Vettel faces the press atlunchtime

“Sebastian Vettel ended the morning session fastest after a burst on the new ultra-soft tyre and he said afterwards that his positive impressions of the Ferrari from his first day remained.

"Pronouncing himself ‘fairly happy’, the four-time champion said: ‘The first thing that matters is the feeling is good and it was fine. The car is reacting and doing what I asked for and now it is crucial Kimi has a similar impression. We have a lot to do but it feels OK for now’.

"Team-mate Raikkonen takes over the car for the final two days of this week’s test, starting on Wednesday.”
