And that's that. Hope that 70 second spurt onto the track was worth it.

As it is, Nico Rosberg finishes the day with the fastest time.

    Some people are keen!

Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen and Daniil Kvyat all charge out on to the circuit...

Is that it? Force India thinks so. I'm inclined to agree.

Out trundles the recovery truck. Six minutes until the end of testing for the day. Will there be enough time for any more laps?

    Niche, Paul.

    I like it though.

  10. red flag

Ten minutes from the chequered flag and the red flag is waving for the second time today. The reason? K-Mag's Renault has stopped at turn three.

Max Verstappen, who will finish the day having completed the most laps (he's currently on 143), improves a smidgen with 1:25.176. He stays seventh fastest though.

After a flurry of activity there's now just Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton and Daniil Kvyat circulating the track.

I said things were winding down,  it is quite the opposite as things start to get busy on the track for the final half hour - Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso and several other drivers are out there.

Anyone just joining us might be slightly confused by the image of Daniil Kvyat wearing a cravat but there is a valid reason for this.

I say valid, it is more there is a reason for this in that we have been discussing what career post F1 would be perfect for drivers past and present.

Gerhard Berger running a burger van and Valtteri Bottas operating a rival Valtteri's butties van have been my favourites so far.

There's a sense of things winding down now with just Valtteri Bottas and Daniil Kvyat on the track at the moment.

It looks like for the first time in testing a Mercedes will finish the day top of the timesheet.

Having finished the morning third fastest, Fernando Alonso had dropped down the timesheet a tad but, after slapping the soft tyres, he is back up to third with 1:24.735.

Valtteri Bottas is  on ULTRA (has to be in caps, makes it sounds like a computer fighting game combo) soft tyres, but hasn't improved on his 1:23.229 from earlier.
